Daily Inspiration: Meet Brittney Carr

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittney Carr

Hi Brittney, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
From Polaroids to the Spotlight: My Journey in Modeling, Photography, and Film

My journey into modeling, photography, and film goes way back—way before I even knew what any of it was. I remember being a little girl using my Mama’s Polaroid camera, snapping photos and waving the film around to see the picture instantly. It was one of my favorite things to do! Then came the days of film cameras, the ones you had to drop off at CVS or Walgreens to get printed. The good old days.

In high school, 2002-2004 ish. I asked my mom to buy me a mini photo/video camera, and I was off, capturing everything from people to animals to the sky. My love for photography took a backseat after high school (you know, life, children, etc), but I found my way back.

In 2020, I became the muse of a local photographer here in Kansas City. Those many shoots turned into a whole modeling journey. Fast forward to 2022, and I found myself featured in *Moscow Tonight Magazine* ( thank you very much), booking jobs for clothing brands, and walking runways for amazing designers like Onetta Johnson, Jofunu BowT’s & Fashion by John Pevy Jr., and Lune Collections for Neneh Jallow. Not to mention my very first camera—Canon T100 Rebel. Talk about an upgrade! Lol!

Soon enough, I was modeling for websites like *SagnomFashion.com* and even made a cameo in a music video for Syd Coopz, filmed by the talented Jackie Terry (May 2022). Then, the runway calls kept coming thanks to Cece Queen: Onetta Johnson’s fashion show in October 2021, plus a series of family event photoshoots (birthdays, reunions, weddings, and graduations), where I was behind the camera capturing all the magic.

In May 2023, I became a brand ambassador for Raenelle Green Braid Styles. That’s when the behind-the-scenes bug really bit me—I started doing photography and videography for her photoshoots, eventually landing a shoot where I was the one in front of the camera. Then, in the world of film, I began acting in local short films, which was a whole new world I found incredibly fascinating. It didn’t stop there—I also started filming behind the scenes and was invited to join the set of *Troublesome* by director/writer Mario Lee, thanks to Megan Hitchcock. I wasn’t just an actress; I also did behind-the-scenes photography and videography, slating, sound—basically, if it involved a camera, I was there.

Being on set with talented actors like Kyle Ament, Lune MStyles, Valerie Hanna, Ezra Riggs, Jason, Earl, and Megan Hitchcock (who is also the associate producer, no big deal) was nothing short of incredible. The trailer for *Troublesome* is on YouTube under 3mnfilms, so be sure to check it out! Mario Lee also created a Roku channel, *Ink Originals*, where I directed a behind-the-scenes documentary with footage I shot, interviews, and more.

In 2022, I embarked on a personal journey as a first-time surrogate (which led to the birth of a healthy baby in 2024!). During this time, I got tagged in a post by Moxie Talent Agency and Wright Laird Casting, who were looking for a pregnant woman for a commercial for MU Hospital’s new birthing center in Columbia, MO. I was chosen! After getting clearance from my agency and the parents, I was off to film the commercial in May 2024, and it was such an amazing experience.

Even with all that going on, I’m still juggling being a mother, having a full time career, modeling, photography, and filming. Thanks to Kyle, who started mentioning me to more people, I recently connected with Booker T. Fleming and found myself on set for *What’s Ministry Got to Do With It?* with a talented cast. Keep an eye out for that one!

Now that 2024 is here, after the birth (by the way I’m still pumping and providing milk for surro babe) and a well-deserved break, I was able to capture some underwater behind-the-scenes footage for @photoalli. That’s when I realized—it’s time to go full throttle. I launched my business, *MamaBee Modeling and Photography LLC*, and started my website at **mamabeeme.com**.

Oh, and let’s not forget—Jackie Terry connected me with Julie Mango (@IamJulieMango), and our skit where we pop balloons? It’s gone viral, with over 1 million views on Instagram. It’s been a blast, and Julie even booked me for a PBS collaboration talking about an upcoming film festival. My dreams are truly coming to life.

There’s so much more, but I’ll save the rest for later. I guess you could say I’m living proof that if you follow your passion, God will order your steps bringing it all together. I can’t wait to see where this wild ride takes me next!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
What’s smooth? lol. Absolutely not. The obstacles I faced were mainly a lack of support starting out. I got the aren’t you too old to model questions. It wasn’t until things started to take off that people started cheering me on. Not being chosen, hearing no, no honorable mentions, etc. It wasn’t just easy. You really have to go after it. You can’t wait on anyone. Your crew who want to see you win will find you. Just keep going.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in modeling, model coaching, filming, photography, editing, writing, producting, directing, and then some. I’m super experienced in Customer Service. It’s what I’ve done for the past umpteen years. I have my own Business MamaBee Modeling and Photography LLC. I’m signed with Moxie Talent Agency. I’m proud of being a woman of many talents. I can sing, braid hair, style myself, and do my makeup. I’m prepared to do behind the scenes photography and be the main photographer. I’m proud of my uniqueness with my caramel skin and chocolate freckles. lol. I have a house full of girls who are picking up on my crafts little by little, but we’re a team. I come from a Business Professional background, so that stays with me at all times. I’m a chameleon. I can do whatever it is I need to do within my morals to get the job done. That’s what sets me apart.

How do you think about happiness?
My daughters. They’re funny, loving, and smart little mini me’s. I don’t know where I would be without them. They’re definitely the reason I push so hard. Singing and music. It was my first love. My escape. Filming makes me happy too. I just love everything about it. It’s fun, I can get lost in it and editing. Eating. I love to eat. Food makes me happy. 🙂 My family and friends. What’s life without them? Overall, my joy comes from God. He supplies all of my needs and then some. He’s always taken great care of my family and I. He is the source for sure!
