Daily Inspiration: Meet Austin Westhoff

Today we’d like to introduce you to Austin Westhoff.

Hi Austin, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
It started with Justin and I. We have been in several bands together and when I joined the army, we decided to form Aster. It started off as a studio band and now we are getting the members together! Dylan (lead guitar) and Allen (drums) are newer to the band. We met them from playing shows together and other bands.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been smooth. Being stationed in Alaska for three years made it hard to find people willing to participate in a studio project. Obviously, personal life issues arise as well and cause some roadblocks, but we all get through them!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are most proud of that one time we got to play with We Came As Romans and Fire From the Gods. Aster is a little bit of everything musically but you find most of our songs in that metalcore/posthardcore area. What sets us apart is that we do it all. We aren’t really letting genre define us and hold us down to one set style.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is achieving your goals.
