Daily Inspiration: Meet April Newby

Today we’d like to introduce you to April Newby.

April, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always been an empath and lover of humanity. Since I was a child, I could easily tune in, sense what others were feeling and hold space for them to feel it. One of my love languages is touch so it made sense for me to go into esthetics. I just loved making people feel good. After a time, I desired to go deeper and added reiki to my offerings. Through my own healing journey, I discovered breath work. It was profound….there are no words. It completely transformed me. I had a deep knowing that this was the direction for me, so I went through training and shifted out of esthetics to solely facilitate healing. Since then, I have been doing a lot of group offerings and now offering zoom sessions. I want anyone who wants my medicine to have access.

There is something to be said about the sacred and delicate art of holding space. The ability to be fully present…really with someone, to be a safe space, to be a witness for what needs to come up and out, is such an honor. I am constantly amazed by the bravery of the clients that choose to work with me. As they journey through the depths of themselves and peel back the layers of limited beliefs, old programs and discover their power to self heal, I am reminded of what it means to be human…our capacity for compassion…of how beautiful we are.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There has been a lot of dismantling through my healing journey. in order to become something new, the old version of self has to die. there has been loss of friendships/community, loss of my sister through addiction, divorce….you name it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am owner of Heart Space Collaborative. I am a breath work facilitator, embodiment coach, channel, reiki master, energy threading, sound healer . I specifically work with heart energy to help people connect with, open the heart and alchemize energy through the body with breath. I specialize in leading group sessions (private or public) and am know for being a safe space for people to heal. I am most proud of my transformation through my own healing so I can be a living breathing example for what is possible. I feel what sets me apart is my leadership when holding group sessions….Which surprised me. a few years ago, I never would have believed I could lead in this way. It would have frightened me to be this vulnerable and wouldn’t have thought it could be possible. It’s my human brothers and sisters that keep me brave. They are brave enough to show up for themselves and do the work…so, I can’t let fear/doubt creep in and contaminate the energetic container. Im bringing out all my tools to help support them. I also think people feel really safe and no judgment when working with me. I also do a lot of energetics work for the energetic container when holding space….people can really feel they are held in love.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Honestly, life makes me happy. Being alive and learning that I get to create whatever reality I want is amazing. I look for beauty and find it…because I look for it. It’s a practice that has become easy by practicing.

That said, What truly makes me happy is being in service to humanity. Witnessing someone discover who they truly are is absolutely incredible. There is no better feeling than helping someone in this way. It heals me and them and shows others what is possible…t’s the most beautiful life giving energy exchange.
