Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony “Ant” Steadham.
Hi Anthony “Ant”, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story started when I was a Truck Driver delivering farm equipment coast to coast. I was up to 280 lbs and I felt horrible because I couldn’t breathe well and was borderline hypertension. I moved to Kansas City about four years ago to become a mailman, so I went from sitting all day at work to walking 10-15 miles per day. I quickly lost 65lbs in a matter of 8 months. I felt so good and wanted to learn the science behind weight loss, so I enrolled in a Bachelor’s program for Exercise Science. After going through the program, I decided to be more than just a Personal Trainer but also a community influencer using the fitness platform to help build confidence and community.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, the road has not been all peaches and cream. A struggle I’ve faced was mostly not being known in a town I’m not from. There are a lot of influencers in KC so I found myself competing with Uneducated Fitness Influencers that would get cookie-cutter programs and make money off of the people but not really helping them sustain a healthy lifestyle. Another struggle I had was really figuring out my niche and how can I most effectively help others with their confidence and mindset.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Ways that I help build confidence in our community is by partnering with Girls On The Run to help our young girls. I also have my media team help create confidence through photoshoots. I really enjoy creating resident events with my partnered luxury apartment communities to promote fun with fitness. Training that I offer is weight loss/gain, strength & conditioning for Soccer, Gymnastics, and Dance. I’m most proud of the fact that I change people’s lives for the better, Some were by exercise and some were by photoshoots. What sets me apart from other Trainers is that I see myself as a Self Development coach because I do a lot more than train but by using the fitness platform to plug into other industries that help with the ultimate goal of confidence-boosting. My fitness services are also available online at the leisure of my busy clients that don’t have time to make it to the gym with me or don’t stay in Kansas City.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory was when my father used to take my brother and I fishing. I don’t fish much now but as a kid that was an eventful trip.
