Daily Inspiration: Meet Amber Brown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Brown.

Hi Amber, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I didn’t start in real estate because I had everything figured out – just the opposite actually. I had recently left the corporate world behind and was currently working as a barista at a local coffee shop in Ottawa KS. (Shout out MugShot Coffee!) It’s still one of my favorite places. That job came at a very transitional phase in my life. Having left the corporate world, I found myself in that in-between space, where you’re trying to figure out what’s next, what feels meaningful, and what actually aligns with who you’re becoming. I didn’t have everything mapped out, but I was open to wherever the next step would lead.

Real estate started as a feeling. A pull towards something new. A world I had actually never envisioned myself in before. So, I jumped all in. My first year was full of learning curves, long days, and figuring things out as I went (with the help of some truly exceptional leadership team members and colleagues). Just when I started to really find my rhythm, I moved to Johnson County. Though it may only be a 30 mile difference, that meant stepping into a new market with no built-in connections, no familiar network just across town, and no automatic pipeline. It honestly felt like starting over – rebuilding my brand, my momentum, and my confidence from scratch.

What’s gotten me to where I am today isn’t luck or shortcuts. It’s consistency, devotion, personal growth and an unwavering belief that the energy you carry becomes the results you create. I’m building my business the same way i’m building myself – with intention, transparency, compassion, and a willingness to do the work, even when – especially when – it’s uncomfortable. Because that is where the magic happens.

I learned quickly that real estate is about so much more than just homes. it’s about the lives inside them. It’s about people. About trust. About being there for people as they navigate some of the biggest transitions of their lives. – The first time buyer calling late at night, overwhelmed and needing guidance to feel confident navigating their options. It’s the young couple welcoming their first baby, figuring out how to build their future together while chasing their dreams. It’s the retirees, closing one chapter of decades long memories in their home, while embracing their next chapter. It’s the single parent, emotional that they’re finally holding the keys to a place they can call their own – felling proud, accomplished and full of possibility. It’s a million other circumstances, made from a million other emotions, milestones and dreams; and it’s beautiful and scary and empowering and impactful. It’s something to believe in. Every home is a story. And what a privilege it is that I get to help them write their next chapter. Real estate has become the place where I get to serve people, challenge myself, and merge my purpose with my profession.. and i’m just getting started.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I don’t think anyone’s path is completely smooth, and mine definitely hasn’t been. The challenges weren’t just about learning real estate – they were about learning myself in the process. There were moments where I questioned if I was doing enough, if I was on the right track, or if I was supposed to be further along. Starting over in a new area tested my confidence in ways I didn’t expect.

One of the hardest parts was building a business from scratch while trying not to compare my journey to everyone else’s. Real estate is an industry where it’s easy to feel like you’re behind, especially when you don’t have a built-in network, or years of experience. I had to get comfortable being uncomfortable. With slow seasons, with uncertainty, and with showing up even if I didn’t feel ready.

Another challenge was finding my own voice and style. There’s a lot of noise in this industry – a lot of people telling you how you ‘should’ do things. It’s taken time for me to trust my instincts, lean into my strengths, and build my business in a way that actually felt authentic to who I am. But all of those struggles have shaped me. They taught me resilience, patience, and how to stay grounded for the long game instead of the quick win. They pushed me to grow both personally and professionally – and I wouldn’t trade that for anything. What a beautiful opportunity it is, to be in an industry that allows this level of creativity, authenticity, and space for continual development.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
In real estate, I get to do what I love most: help people. I get to show up and support them as they move through big transitions with clarity, confidence, and support. I work primarily in Johnson, Miami, and Franklin Counties – focusing on buyers, seller’s, and families who want an agent they can actually trust – someone who listens, communicates clearly, and doesn’t disappear when things get stressful. My favorite part is by the end of the transaction – it’s no longer just a transaction. Strangers have become more than just clients, or friends; they become family

What i’m known for is being honest, steady, and hands-on. I don’t rush people, I don’t push them, I don’t sugarcoat things. I walk them through every step, explain the process in terms they understand, and make sure they feel taken care of. Whether it’s a first time buyer, someone relocating, investing, or a family selling their long-time home; my clients know i’m going to show up fully and consistently, with their best interest at the forefront.

I don’t try to be the loudest person in the room, or the flashiest agent online – I lead with who I am: grounded, present, detail-oriented, client forward, and real. I care about the experience just as much as the outcome. That’s probably what sets me apart the most. I take the time to understand people – their dreams, their fears, their goals, their timelines, and most importantly – their story. Then I tailor everything to fit them, not just the transaction.

What I’m most proud of is the way I’ve built my business: intentionally, authentically, and with integrity. I am carving my path in this industry by staying consistent, building genuine relationships, and trusting that showing up as myself – is enough. Hearing clients tell me they felt seen, supported, or less overwhelmed because of me – that’s the part that matters. That’s what keeps me going.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If I could give advice to anyone just starting out, it would be this: give yourself permission to be new. Don’t expect yourself to know everything right away, and don’t let the pace of other people’s success make you feel like you’re behind. Real estate is a long game — your consistency will matter far more than how fast you start.

I also wish someone would’ve told me that slow seasons don’t mean you’re failing. They’re part of the process. Those early months when you’re learning, doubting yourself, or trying to figure out your voice — that’s where you build the foundation you’re going to stand on later. Lean into it. Keep showing up even when it feels like nothing is happening. That alone puts you ahead of most.

Another piece of advice: find your own way of doing this business. There’s a lot of pressure to copy what everyone else is doing, but the people who succeed long-term are the ones who stay true to who they are. You don’t have to be loud. You don’t have to be flashy. You don’t need a massive network on day one. You just need to be consistent, trustworthy, willing to make mistakes, but being even more committed to learning from them, and growing.

And finally, be patient with yourself. Confidence doesn’t come from having everything figured out — it comes from surviving the moments you weren’t sure you could. That part of the journey is just as important as the wins
