Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Barclay.
Alexis, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I moved to KC 30 years ago. Ikicked off your music career in 2000, and by 2007, I started working with Smiles Change Lives, helping kids get orthodontic care. And you’ve stuck with them for almost two decades now.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Married since 2002, three kids, one major move in the past 15 years. I’ve faced significant losses, including two brothers, but I view these not purely as obstacles, but as difficult parts of life’s movement.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Smiles Change Lives is a national program that helps underserved kids across the country get the orthodontic care they desperately need.
I’ve dedicated 20 years to this mission, helping over 20,000 families, because you believe in giving kids confidence and a chance.
I also play music with a few projects.
Supermassive black holes have been a staple in kansas city for 16 years.
What matters most to you? Why?
Happiness. Smiling and helping others by listening. The darkness can be acute. It is important to create light and bask in it.
