Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrian Levy.
Adrian, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born in Jackson Mississippi to
My parents Lj and Lavell the were kind of young my daddy was 21 and my mama was 18. I think their first apt was in a place called Walnut Grove, Ms, where the brought me home. I dont think we stay there long, my cousin Duke told me they moved to Carthage a couple mths afterwards. Which is also in Mississippi. Thats where I got my first memories from. I started falling in love with music first from my daddy playing Blues songs and 80s rock r&b and my mama playing Gospel and hearing when she would take me and my brother to church. My Unc put me on to hiphop around 9 or ten along with my cousin Duke. I always tell people that if it wasn’t for Unc and my cousin I probably would of never did hiphop or music in general. I started doing my own music around 18ish 19ish although I did a couple talent shows as a kid rapping other people songs, but just because I loved hiphop so much. I truly started doing music in Kansas City where my parents moved me. I remember the first time I recorded I was hooked. I never thought I would be doing music this long but its like we both grew together. Writing music took me all over this country chasing what I saw in my head. It even helped me get closer to God in a personal way looking back at myself. The question asked me to tell my story, but its almost impossible, because I been so many places and did so many things and learned and lost and gained so much, its like telling emotions to explain love. My story is still evolving. Im just here for the ride. My music is a representation of me and life around me. My name is Mississippi because every state I’ve been people called me Mississippi haha. So it just kinda became my name my friend Cortez is the first person I remember calling me that he had the whole hood calling me that. So everywhere I went it just stuck. I have multiple songs on tv shows too many to list but right now Im on Jersey Shore alot, & Welcome to Wrexham which is a soccer show on FX I have songs all over Netflix and other streaming platforms. And more to come.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Ive had alot of struggles like trying to stay motivated, wondering if I should quit at times, regular bm drama money issues, fall out with friends children situations. Just stuff that happens simultaneously while chasing your dreams. Ive had alot of Triumphs as well.
