Conversations with Victoria Lowman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Lowman.

Hi Victoria, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story started when I was 17 years old. I got a job at Frankies salon. (More like I wouldn’t leave the salon and the owner Jen Kelly, asked me if I worked there. To which I replied… can I?) I had always been interested in the beauty industry and I immediately fell in love with the salon environment.

My whole career path changed when I was 19 after I was introduced to hair extensions while attending a hair show. I had always struggled with my self-esteem because of my fine thin hair that wouldn’t grow… I was thrilled at the concept that I could do something to fix it.

Over the years, I tried many different methods but struggled to find something that cared about my natural hair as much as my desired result.

I’ve trained in six different methods and gotten multiple certifications within each method. When I finally discovered IBE that is when my passion truly ignited.

I have made it at my life passion to help others achieve their dream hair just like I have… while maintaining/improving their natural hair.

I focus on the main issues I’ve had with my own extensions over the years..such as color blends, showing while in a pony and discomfort while wearing.

My clients inspire me to be better everyday. Watching their self-esteem skyrocket is extremely rewarding and their gratitude is unmatched.

My story continues as I am currently opening my own salon Studios.

By opening VictoriaRose studios, I hope to give other artists the same career success I had when I moved to a private room.

Coaching others to help them get to their own high level of success is something I recently discovered I love.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When I entered the beauty, it was not met with hopeful outcomes. I was told I was giving up my future and potential for success. While this was temporary discouraging, I used the naysayers as inspiration to drive my own success.

Now I want to change the narrative for my fellow artist and industry perceptions so future stylists are encouraged. Not shut down.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an extensions artist. I exclusively do invisible bead extensions. I am specialized in color, placement and technique of applying extensions.

I am most proud of how far my skill set has grown over the years and how much time I have invested in my education on my journey to be an elite IBE artist!

I think what sets me apart from others is my dedication to my clients and their extension experience. I truly care if their experience is amazing and if they get everything they want out of their new look.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I was blessed and found my mentor Jen Kelly at a young age! Now I mainly rely on social media networking to find other artists whose passions align with mine. I have discovered quite the tribe all over America thanks to IBE.
