Today we’d like to introduce you to Vick-Knew- Zeus.
Hi Vick-Knew-, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
For years, Kiki, Eden, and I ground it out on social media. I started a group on FB called Universes Collide and grew it to 20,000 members. From there, I moved to multiple apps, including Amino, Vine, and Tumblr, and grew my audience. I did this even while working in Hollywood on other ventures. From there, we went to TikTok, where our viral video, Spaghetti, racked up a million views (still growing), basically changing our lives. We were basically invited to NYFW and met SZA and many other celebs. Networking changed our trajectory, landing us many brand deals.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Well, there are times when you hit a corner and feel like all is lost, but friends like Gardy, Gabe (Gabriel), Hong, and Kaelee make you feel better about yourself. What people don’t know is that there are more noes and yeses all at the same time. We recently collaborated with Hisense TV, and that was the first time we were restricted, whereas Vans, whom we collaborate with through TikTok Shop/other ventures, gave us so much freedom to do what we want. So you have to be prepared for no and restrictions.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
For one, I am an entertainer who was discovered by Gerald Lee, a Hollywood director who loved my movie script, and from there, my life changed. At the same time, I was growing on social media and built a audience that made other talents seek me out. When people Google me, I am now officially a mid-tier creator and will soon be high-tier. What I am most proud of was NYFW. Meeting SZA was cool and surreal. What sets me apart is that I do my own thing, create my own lane, and it’s worked ever since.
What makes you happy?
(laughs) What makes me happy? Again, friends like Gabe & Kaelee. Some people have this weird vibe that makes you feel like it’s ok not to be perfect. Overall, good friends, Vans, Kingdom Hearts, my kids, GOD, and loyalty.
