Today we’d like to introduce you to TreeHouse Customs.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The TreeHouse Customs story started when founder, Connor Lee, came up with the idea to start creating his own custom rolling trays. Connor has a degree in business management from Park University and figured out what better than to create custom smoking essentials for people at lower costs than giant online retailers while being more unique and tailored exactly to the customer’s wants and needs. Most smoking products are very cookie-cutter stereotypical 4/20 esque designs that don’t show much individuality.
We have made our way into our first dispensary in Missouri, and only hope to find more opportunities to get into stores! We are helping promote their brand designs with our premium bamboo trays & other accessories. Treehouse Customs was founded on individuality and expression. People should be able to have whatever unique designs they want on products inside and outside their homes. Connor partnered with college roommate Jacob Kline, creative director, to help with marketing & designs for TreeHouse.
Kline has a degree from Park University as well in business marketing. The idea of just making custom smoking essentials quickly grew into creating any custom product a customer could dream of! We have since expanded into charcuterie & cutting boards, drinkware, home & wall decor, phone cases & small accessories & apparel in just the first year with more ideas on the way.
It is our goal to connect with creators and inspire a new generation of custom goods, and eventually expand to a large enough creative lounge that allows for consumers and creators to collaborate and see their projects come to life!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a business idea that originated off of custom rolling trays and living in a non-recreational or medical marijuana state was our first obstacle because our trays and other accessories were not liked by all peers at the beginning of our venture.
Our business was also created right at the beginning of the Covid Era, this made the supply chain a huge issue for us because we were unable to have products readily available for customers. Luckily, we found alternative means of acquiring inventory, and also we were in the very early stages of our business.
However, these issues have still affected us in some areas when trying to order inventory. Being such a new business, that also made it very hard to get out locally and spread the word about our business because there was not a lot of face-to-face communication.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
TreeHouse Customs specializes in any custom laser engraving on wood and glass products.
We have been able to provide our expertise with many gifts for family & friends, bottle openers for bars, charcuterie board businesses, closing gifts for realtors. Our hottest product is our large custom bamboo rolling tray that has been purchased all over the country.
We are rapidly expanding into charcuterie boards & serving trays. We’re most proud of all of the designs we have been able to bring to life for our customers, we wouldn’t be anything without the support from our following!
How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
TreeHouse Customs is easily able to collaborate or work with small businesses in a variety of industries! We think we work best with the service industry because our serving trays/charcuterie boards are able to show off customers’ amazing charcuterie arrangements. We have also worked with a few realtors to offer closing gifts to home buyers & hope to find similar opportunities in the future!
We have worked with a few local shoe collectors on pieces for displaying their luxury shoes, and local plant enthusiasts on tags for separating plants types and names. We work well with companies offering giveaways or that want to make their brand stand out! We are able to offer them unique products for their brand to set them apart.
