Today we’d like to introduce you to SuzAnne Stadler.
Hi SuzAnne, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My Journey into the Beauty Industry began
With a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Science and Education, I started my career as a teacher before transitioning into medical sales, a role that allowed me to travel across the United States and eventually accept a position in Scottsdale, Arizona, as the General Manager of a cosmetic surgery center. After a couple of years, I needed to return to the Kansas City area to be with my husband and family. I was searching for a career that combined my love for education, communication, products I truly believed in, and have some fun along the way.
I discovered Salon Service Group through a brand I was personally using and immediately felt connected to its mission. What started as a way to reestablish myself in Kansas City turned into a lifelong passion — nearly 18 years later, I’ve never looked back. Although my role is in sales, I’ve never viewed it that way. For me, it’s about sharing education, fostering growth, and supporting sustainability and profitability — all while helping make a positive difference in the lives of others and the beauty industry does just that!
Today, I proudly get to work with the most successful salons and stylists in the Kansas City area. I am the number one District Sales Coordinator at Salon Service Group, supporting salons throughout Kansas City, Overland Park, Leawood, Shawnee, Prairie Village, and Lawrence areas. Visiting salons, building relationships, and being part of a community that celebrates beauty and success continues to be deeply rewarding. Every day, I get to make a difference — helping salons and stylists thrive, while sharing positivity, creativity, and care.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Shortly after I began at Salon Service Group the brand that brought me to the company we no longer had Distribution rights to; as well as the another brand that was a majority of the business for my area. The hustle began to reestablish my business and build new brands in the KC market.
I had to adjust my territory several times throughout the years condensing it to produce another DSC position in the Kansas City market. Which meant handing off relationships and the business of some of my best salons and stylists. This hurt my heart, however was necessary for the growth of Salon Service Group.
Throughout the years the SSG brand portfolio is ever changing. Brands that I had built up to be successful in the KC market the next day would become my competition after brand acquisitions by larger corporations. Also New to market brands becoming part of our portfolio and having to start from scratch on building brand representation, consumer awareness, and sales. It’s a grind that requires me to show up at my best day in and day out.
Mass distribution through Amazon and brands selling direct to consumer are making it extremely difficult to keep the professional salon and stylists dollars safe. Salons and stylists partnering with like minded brands and a distributor like Salon Service Group is key to continue the support of the salons and salon professionals at a local level.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I work as a DSC for Salon Service Group. A company that Partnered with the finest hair-care companies in the world.
Every brand we carry must be of exceptional performance and possess a genuine commitment to the salon professional.
The majority of our brands are privately owned. I am responsible for educating, marketing, sales, and supporting the salons and salon professionals with brands from the SSG Portfolio. I am most known for my continued commitment over many years to provide: education, successful business strategies in addition to honest and reliable service to the salons and stylists in my area. I think it goes back to how I was raised. I do what I say I’m going to do and I never ask someone to do something that I’m not willing to do myself. I am invested in my salons and stylist success, if they are not happy and successful neither am I.
Any big plans?
Looking Ahead
In the next few years, I aim to reach $3 million in sales, working closely with new salon owners and stylists to build success, profitability, and more efficient, effective business practices. I’m passionate about helping salons and stylists evolve, grow, and maximize their potential. Looking further ahead, I hope to contribute to building a brand on the manufacturing side, where I could bring my expertise and possibly have an ownership stake — combining my love for the industry with entrepreneurship and innovation.
