Conversations with Sean And Emily Miller

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean And Emily Miller

Hi Sean and Emily, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Sean and I have had our fair share of experiences and then some. Our family and friends swear our lives could give any sitcom or reality tv show a run for its money, and we just laugh at the absurdity. Sean and I have always talked about the idea of a blog, book or a podcast, we just were waiting for the right time to start. When we initiated our podcast, we were undergoing significant changes—such as moving Sean’s dad in, selling his childhood home, and saying goodbye to two beloved pets. Our children were facing their own challenges, and my family was also involved with needs of their own that impacted us as well. We recognized a need for an outlet—an activity we could share that might also assist others. We aim to discuss family dynamics, without offering unsolicited advice, sharing our experiences to convey that others are not alone in their struggles. Our intention is to add some humor while reminding everyone that social media often presents a curated version of reality. Sean and I aspire to foster connections and create a welcoming environment for individuals to express themselves. That is our goal for our listeners through our podcast. We’re just a couple trying to do life as best we can in Kansas City, MO. Turns out, there is never the ‘right time’ to start
a dream, you just have to start. Life can be demanding; adulting, parenting, and relationships can feel like an ongoing challenge. We frequently ponder, “Do we have to?” and often, the answer is ‘yes,’ so let’s navigate this together!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a podcast while managing three kids, becoming a full-time caregiver, and holding down a full-time job is a challenge! We dove headfirst into the world of podcasting, transforming our home and schedules to make it happen. A huge shoutout to our amazing friend Colin, our Executive Producer, whose expertise and generous support have made this journey possible. We’re also figuring out the ins and outs of social media, building websites, and connecting with our Do We Have To Crew. It’s been a long, rewarding process filled with behind-the-scenes hustle, but the excitement keeps us going. Balancing daily life is key, but this passion project is worth every ounce of effort!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Sean’s a full-time Project Manager at a software company, and Emily’s a stay-at-home mom who manages a few other titles as well. Sean went to The University of Missouri, and Emily graduated from Northwest Missouri State University. We met after college, got engaged after six months of dating, then got married nine months later! We’re super proud of our family and the life we’re building together. As podcast hosts, we’re not after money or fame. We’re not focused on clicks, views, likes, or shares; we just want to create content that helps everyday people who are struggling, feeling down, or isolating themselves. We’re all connected, and if we can show each other some grace, understanding, and solid support, we can all grow and improve our lives together. We’re all about spreading that message!

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
We have a lot that we follow online and we talk about them all on the show! Sean likes to follow some business profiles and other influencers. Emily likes to follow some influencers and follows along with some faith based apps as well. We strive to place our family first, so we tend to lean towards people who are like minded. We want to create a mindset that will set us up for success and manifest a positive outlook as a couple and as parents.
