Conversations with Sarah Hermann

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Hermann.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I photographed my first wedding when I was 15 (bought the camera from target on a Black Friday) and from then on, I knew that it was something I would end up doing for a long time. Fast forward a few years – I got married, had two kids and then dove headfirst in 2017 and it snowballed into what it is today! A full-time job doing what I love.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Oh, goodness. Absolutely not! and anyone that says it’s easy is lying to you. Lol. My kiddos were just babies when I really got started. It was (and still is) hard to find that work/life balance. I would say the hardest thing for me was knowing my value/worth.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I own Sarah Dean Photography, LLC. I specialize in engagement, wedding and elopement photography. I’m proud of how my business has grown over the years… I photograph anywhere from 30-40 weddings a year. I never thought that was something I’d ever say. There are SO many amazing photographers in KC – I think what sets others apart is personality. I’m all about making people laugh and not taking life too seriously.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Apart from my wonderful family… coffee, black coffee makes me happy and food. I love food.
