Conversations with Natalie Moussa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Moussa.

Hi natalie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
In college, I ended up minoring in studio art before going to nursing school. I started by experimenting with different artistic styles and mediums, constantly teaching myself, learning from each piece, and refining my skills through practice and perseverance. Every painting, sketch, and illustration became an opportunity to grow as both an artist and a storyteller.

As my confidence developed, I discovered that my artwork could do more than create beautiful images—it could evoke emotion, inspire hope, and make a meaningful difference. This realization led me to focus on creating art with purpose, particularly artwork that celebrates the human-animal bond and raises awareness for shelter animals. My children’s book, Kingston’s Story, reflects this mission by sharing a story of resilience, love, and second chances while supporting animal shelters through its proceeds.

Today, my work is inspired by compassion, nature, and the stories that connect us. I enjoy creating warm, expressive pieces that invite viewers to pause, reflect, and experience emotion through art. Every project I undertake is an opportunity to continue learning, growing, and using my creativity to positively impact others.

My journey has been shaped by dedication, curiosity, and the belief that art has the power to tell stories words alone cannot. As I continue to evolve as an artist, I remain committed to creating meaningful work that brings joy, inspires kindness, and reminds people that even the smallest acts of compassion can leave a lasting impression.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like many artists, my journey has been filled with challenges. There were moments of self-doubt, creative blocks, and uncertainty about whether my work would ever reach the people I hoped to inspire. Learning new techniques, finding my own artistic voice, and balancing creativity with life’s responsibilities required patience and perseverance. Each obstacle taught me resilience, and instead of giving up, I used those experiences to grow stronger as an artist. Those struggles have become an important part of my story, shaping not only my artwork but also the passion and purpose behind everything I create.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The most recent accomplishment I am most proud of is my children’s book. I am the author and illustrator of this book.
“Kingston’s Story” is a heartwarming children’s book that follows the journey of a shelter dog named Kingston who faces loneliness, uncertainty, and the dream of finding a family to love him. Through gentle storytelling and vibrant watercolor-style illustrations, the book captures both the struggles and the hope of shelter animals — teaching children about compassion, patience, and the power of second chances. This book not only tells a meaningful story but also aims to give back: half of all profits from sales will be donated directly to animal shelters, helping real animals find their forever homes.

Any big plans?
Looking ahead, I hope to continue growing as both an artist and an author by creating meaningful stories and artwork that inspire compassion and make a positive impact. I plan to write and illustrate more children’s books, expand my collection of original artwork, and collaborate with organizations that support animal welfare and other charitable causes. My goal is to reach readers and art lovers of all ages while using my creativity to give back to the community. As I continue to develop my craft, I hope to leave a lasting legacy through stories and art that encourage kindness, hope, and the belief that even small acts of compassion can change lives.
