Today we’d like to introduce you to Marie Jackson
Hi Marie , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My path to becoming a paranormal investigator began with my own childhood ghost encounters, which ignited a deep fascination with the unknown. These early experiences also made me aware of the stigmas attached to people who share their paranormal encounters, particularly within certain demographics and communities. Driven by a desire to break down these stigmas, I began telling the stories of others who have had similar experiences, giving them a voice through multiple creative outlets.
As a filmmaker and profound author, I’ve produced short films, full-length films, and written my first book, TEN Feet Under, which explores these encounters in depth. I’m also preparing to publish my second book, TEN FEET ABOVE, at the end of December, continuing my exploration of the paranormal. To further amplify these stories, I launched a podcast called PARANORMAL IMPACT, where I discuss the experiences and challenges faced by individuals in the paranormal community.
My work has garnered attention, leading to appearances on local news stations and Tubi documentaries. Currently, I’m producing a TV series that brings paranormal re-enactments to life, diving deeper into the mysteries that have intrigued me since childhood. Through all my projects, I remain committed to challenging societal perceptions and providing a platform for the often overlooked voices in the paranormal world.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey into the paranormal world has been marked not just by the experiences I’ve had, but by the challenges that come with being a Black female investigator in a field often dominated by others. From a young age, after my own ghost encounters, I became aware of the skepticism and stigmas attached to those who share paranormal stories. However, as a Black woman, I’ve faced additional layers of bias—both in the paranormal community and society at large.
Throughout my career, I’ve encountered many who were dismissive of my experiences and the stories I sought to share, simply because I didn’t fit the mold of what a “typical” paranormal investigator looks like. Being a woman in this field already comes with its set of challenges, but being a Black woman often means dealing with both racial and gender-based stereotypes. These struggles have fueled my passion to break down barriers, not just for myself, but for others who are similarly marginalized.
In certain communities, paranormal experiences are either heavily stigmatized or not taken seriously, which only deepens the isolation. I’ve made it my mission to amplify these voices and remove the stigmas from the communities often ignored in paranormal spaces. Whether it’s through my films, my books—TEN Feet Under and the upcoming TEN FEET ABOVE—or my podcast PARANORMAL IMPACT, I aim to bring to light the stories that deserve to be told, no matter the barriers.
My struggles, however, haven’t gone unnoticed. Despite the challenges, I’ve made appearances on local news stations and Tubi documentaries, where I’ve been able to share my story. I’m currently producing a TV series that re-enacts paranormal events, pushing boundaries even further. Through all these platforms, I continue to advocate for greater representation and understanding, using my own journey as an example of how powerful it is to overcome adversity and embrace the unknown.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a paranormal investigator, I have conducted over 200 investigations, each revealing the complex and mysterious nature of the unknown. My journey began with personal ghost encounters in childhood, and these experiences have driven me to seek answers not only for myself but for countless others who have experienced the paranormal. Over the years, I have helped people understand and cope with their own supernatural encounters, offering support and insight where others might dismiss or ignore their stories.
My work goes beyond investigation and storytelling—I strive to provide a voice for those who feel marginalized or stigmatized because of their paranormal experiences. Whether it’s through film, my books, or the podcast PARANORMAL IMPACT, I aim to challenge societal views of the supernatural. My career has led to appearances on local news, documentaries on Tubi, and I’m currently producing a TV series featuring re-enactments of paranormal encounters. Each project is an extension of my mission: to offer understanding, remove stigmas, and provide a platform for those touched by the unknown.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
While many people know me as a paranormal investigator, filmmaker, and author, something that might surprise those familiar with my work is that I come from a large family—I have 8 siblings, and I’m the middle child. Growing up in such a dynamic household shaped me in many ways, but perhaps most unexpectedly, I developed a unique ability: I can see energies, often referred to as ghosts. This ability has been both a personal and professional guiding force in my life, allowing me to connect more deeply with the paranormal encounters I investigate and the stories I tell.
