Today we’d like to introduce you to Lynel Seawood.
Hi Lynel, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
My first actual start as a photographer was in 9th grade in 1996. Then again, in my senior year, 2000. Since then, I mainly took photos with a point-and-shoot camera and my cell phone. It wasn’t until 2016ish, when my daughter started playing basketball I purchased my first ever real camera, a Nikon d5300 DSLR. I grew tired of so many images from my phone, so I made the purchase. After completing my purchase, I realized that my images were slightly better than my phone. I wanted better images, so I spent all this money on a camera. So I did a lot of YouTube searching, library books, etc., to study and improve.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No smooth road at all, and it still is not; It was a struggle just learning photography, which took at least 6 months to a year to get a general understanding of my camera setting and lenses. Learning the business side is even more challenging, and still learning it today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your work.
I am a photographer. I specialize in weddings, headshots, and product photography. I’m known for having very sharp and detailed photos. I like to use a lot of off-camera flash/lighting, which sets me apart from many beginner photographers.
Can you talk to us about the role of luck?
I’ve had no luck in business so far. I have been working hard and trying to make connections as much as possible.
