Today we’d like to introduce you to Luis Leon
Hi Luis, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
This dream started for me long time ago when I moved to the United States in 2001 to Whitting, Indiana at the age 16. I started working immediately after I came to this country at my father’s little Mexican grocery store while going through High school. When we moved to Kansas City, I continue to work at my uncle’s taco shop and that is when my dream came into mind. Pinches Tacos came together thanks to three friends who talked about their dreams of owning a place where people can come up together and enjoy good Mexican food and a delicious Tequila drink.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Just like any other business, the road has not been smooth, but we have a strong team. Mainly the three owners working together to make sure the business runs smoothly and delight Kansas City with some real Mexican food. We have faced many challenges like getting the business license, and not even mention the liquor license. Kansas City needs to make it easier to small business to come to life.
Westport is a beautiful part of the city with a lot of history and cultural diversity, but also the crime in Westport is out of hands and that makes it harder for any business to survive.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I work for T-Mobile as a Virtual Retail Coach in 2016. I specialize in sales and helping people achieve their goals. I am most proud of my four children, and how they remind me every day to be a better person. What sets me apart from everyone else is that I decided to be myself and live my life at the fullest.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see this industry still going strong because good food is not going anywhere, however technology is changing everything so rapidly. I hope in 5-10 years we still have people to make our food instead of machines.
