Hi Kristi, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
Kristi Pierce Designs started out as just a small hobby for me as a creative outlet. As a working mom, I needed something to fulfill my creative side. I tried direct sales before and it just wasn’t for me. I wanted to create my own product and have control over what I sell! I have always been a jewelry fan and fell in love with leather earrings after trying a few from other stores. I love how lightweight and versatile they are! After many late nights of research, I decided to dive in and try making them myself! I started selling to close friends and family, then word began to spread and my business continued to grow! Here we are 4 years later, making top-quality leather earrings and have had sales all over the U.S.!
Kristi Pierce Designs would not be what it is today without the help and support of my family and friends! My parents help with earring production along with my sister. I also have friends that come over and help when they can with various production tasks from time to time. My husband has been such a great support and helps out whenever time allows. Between both of us working full time (he is fireman and I work full-time as an occupational therapist), and raising three boys, our lives are busy and hectic, but we find time to make this business thrive!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road! As with any business, there have been plenty of struggles along the way. Trying to run your own business is hard work! Not only am I the designer, I also wear all the other hats of the business. I do all of the photography, website design and management, material purchasing, marketing, the financial aspects, and the list goes on! I would say one of the biggest struggles is balancing work/life. You want to put 100% of yourself into your business but that is difficult when you have a family and work full time as well! I have put in a lot of late nights and early mornings to make this business work!

We have multiple unique styles to choose from that you will not find anywhere else! We do offer simple styles and staples as well such as the teardrop and petal shape. Our quality is top-notch and we take extreme pride in our work! We want you to have the best! We use high-quality genuine leather, cork leather, and top-quality faux leather materials. All of our earrings are handmade right here in Kearney, MO! Along with top quality, our prices are unbeatable as well! All of our earrings and jewelry items are under $25! We believe you should not have to pay big bucks for a great pair of earrings!
Any big plans?
This is a good question! As far as for the future of this business, I am excited and can’t wait to see what the future brings! I am currently working on growing both our retail and wholesale sales. With a new website that I recently designed; I am able to reach more customers all over the U.S. versus running this business through my Facebook group. I am also now on wholesale websites, Abound and Faire to help grow my wholesale sales. In our area, leather earrings have been around for a while and lot of other businesses sell them, however I believe with our unique designs and price point we will continue to grow because our earrings are affordable and our customers don’t want to go back to wearing heavy earrings!
