Today we’d like to introduce you to Kellie Overocker.
Hi Kellie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started Indigo Rose Salon in 2013 in downtown mission, after doing hair for 11 years. In 2022 I made the decision to purchase a 1893 craftsman style house in downtown Merriam to develop a whole new concept. I wanted to create a place my clients felt at home but at the same time pampered. We are an eclectic mix of experts in health and beauty at the Indigo Rose Salon.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Rough, is an understatement. Believing in yourself and knowing when to follow your heart but listening to your brain can be hard. Between ups and downs at previous locations and Covid. It was a rough road but I absolutely love where I have planted my feet for the rest of my career.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We offer a variety of full hair and body body services, from facials, waxing , to Japanese scalp spa. I specialize in color, extensions, and scalp therapy. We offer an atmosphere like no other. I created a homey space but a luxe feel. We love our salon home and we hope our clients leave feeling refreshed and pampered.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I have lived a few places and KC just has a humble and kind vibe, it just feels like home.
I do feel like as a large city and with money we put towards our professional sports we should have a place in our taxes to help provide affordable housing and more shelter to provide for the less fortunate.
