Conversations with Kari Shafer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kari Shafer.

Hi Kari, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always had a passion for photography. I took some classes in middle and high school but fell away from it when I became a mom. In 2014 my husband encouraged me to pick it up again, so I did! I am completely self-taught through online courses and diving into my craft head first.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not! In September of 2020, I had a brain aneurysm burst. I was in the ICU for three weeks while my brain bled. It was a long journey to recovery, some of which I’m still on. It put me out of commission for a little more than a year. I am SO THANKFUL to be back to doing what I love!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a photographer. I specialize in natural light photography of ANY kind, meaning I will do any type of session for my customers. Anything from weddings to maternity/newborns, and everything in between! I am most known for my ability to connect with people and make lasting impressions and making them feel comfortable with booking me in the future!

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something you might not know about me is that I am HORRIBLE with directions. I will use google maps to get to places I’ve been hundreds of times, just to make sure I don’t get lost or make sure I’m there on time!
