Conversations with Kara Easum

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kara Easum.

Hi Kara, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I initiated my journey during a period of global stillness. With years of experience in the restaurant industry until the COVID-19 pandemic, I transitioned to pursue my passion in the beauty industry. As the world was essentially closed, I attended school full-time, focusing exclusively on becoming an aesthetician.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The transition to a new normal post lockdown presented significant challenges, but I was determined to be successful. I chose to venture into self employment immediately after graduation, despite its notoriously high failure rate. With confidence in my abilities, I have established a thriving business that continues to grow almost four years later.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a esthetician who offers an array of services including, facial, chemical treatments, lash lifts, brow lamination, full body waxing and custom spray tans. I am known for my attention to detail every client is like an blank canvas for me and is my form of art. I enjoy being personable and meeting people from all walks of life. I enjoy being able to help others feel beautiful and comfortable in their skin. I am most proud of sticking to my goals and continuing to set new ones for myself. I also take pride in being as affordable as possible. Everyone deserves to be able to treat themselves to self-care every now and again.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I made some questionable choices as a young adult and found myself at what felt like a stand still. I dropped out of high school and felt like I didn’t know how to get myself back on my feet. I actually ended up getting my high school diploma online while I was also going to a aesthetic school full-time. It was a very mentally taxing time, but very proud of where I am today and I didn’t let my mistakes as a young adult follow me forever.
