Today we’d like to introduce you to Josie Azocar.
Hi Josie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I always needed help with tucking. I would try many brands, but I need something else. I even got creative and would make my gaff. But I couldn’t find anything till 2019 when I found Criss, a Brazilian designer who has been helping the community since 1990 by making tucking panties. With hopes of finding something that would work for me, I took my chances and ordered some of her underwear. It turns out they work wonders! My confidence was boosted! I could finally wear swimsuits and the tight dresses I always wanted. I quickly ordered more and started telling my friends about it. Everyone loved them! I posted about it on Facebook, and everyone enjoyed them! I found out that it was not only me struggling. It was a lot of my friends too. We found a solution to a need! That’s when we started Tuckituppp, providing affirming underwear for transwomen that anyone can use. We started our website and social media. I started modeling it myself as a hobby, then became part-time till I started getting a bit busier; today, we are doing good, thanks to the support of the girls in the fish tank, my friends in the adult industry, and everyone else from the community.
Let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Thankfully it has been smooth. As people say, do what you love, and that’s what I did; I transformed any struggle that presented itself into an opportunity. Covid is one of the most challenging times since I started due to shipping issues and problems getting fabric, elastic, and goods, but overall we are moving forward from Covid times.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might need to become more familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
My work career start when I was 12, I was a server , then at 17 I move forward ro cashier at carls junior, while I was still in school, I keep working as much as I can to help my single mom and my sisters, finally at 19 I get a full time job at a Factory in the finance area, that don’t last long due that’s I start transition at 21, and the company had to let me go for don’t complian and meet their uniform standards, meaning men have to have short hair, I keeping going to college as I transition and I start working in a hair salon, I finish college as business administration degree, but no one will hire me due my aparance and my gender, I keep working in the hair salon till, our option where limited as a trans woman in Mexico 13 years ago and still are limited in many countrys, I emigrate to the usa 11 years latter and I start working at retail, and hair dresser, finally 4 years ago Macys give me the opportunity to be a manager, and I start tuckituppp around that time doing it part time I move Dillards as a Manager as well I only last one year more to be full time at Tuckituppp, customer service and helping others is something that I always be passionate about it , so im supper happy and proud to have a company that help other the way it help me to live my true self.
What do you think about luck?
I have always been lucky just to be able to live another day. Everything comes at the right time. But social media helped me when and started my business in 2019. I’m not saying it was pure luck; it was hard work and dedication.
