Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Gibson.
Hi Jason, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
After working in the industry for twenty years, the new trend is private equities and raising prices through pushy tactics and sometimes outright lies. I don’t like that, and refuse work for that type of environment. So my wife and I took a leap and are attempting to provide good and honest services to our surrounding communities at affordable rates. We focus on repairing over replacement and ensuring things within budget.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We started from the ground up. We didn’t have investors. So the obvious issue is how do you pay for it all. We found another small business who needed help and we are still helping them. But this helped us maintain consistent income and build. We’ve had months of zero calls our first year. We contacted local friends and family to help with word of mouth and this helped boost us.
We used a personal vehicle until we could afford a cheaper business suv and we are saving for a transit van. It’s all baby steps. We are teaching our kids the business too and plan to keep this in the family if they wish to take it.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We are a one man shop. I do bi annual maintenance to help your units last longer. The average unit should live be 10-15 years if properly installed and maintained. Some even longer. When things do go wrong I like to give multiple options for repair or install. Everyone budget is different and that needs to be accounted for. When replacement does become the choice I can do that as well. I work with almost every brand and have my preferences. I talk with the client see what they have interests in and we discuss pros and cons that’s I’ve seen over the years with these brands. Make suggestions if needed/wanted and work together to get your home comfortable. I think what sets us apart from others is we actually care and put effort into making sure we meet you where you are.
I work on boilers and geothermal units as well.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I follow a variety of tech forums and check them almost daily. I take classes with local vendors to stay up to date on changed. Currently we are going through a big refrigerant change.
