Conversations with Erishyll Isidro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erishyll Isidro

Hi Erishyll, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story starts in 2015 when my lovely wife gifted me my first camera. I practiced on everyone that I knew and after that first year I took on my first client. Spent that whole year trying to get in more practice with shooting, editing, etc. When I did my first wedding in 2017, I realized that this was something I was super passionate about and I honestly just ran with it. I taught myself how to work a wedding with no previous experience or shadowing anyone. It was so nerve racking because at the time I didn’t have as many friends in the industry as I do now to help me. I never would have thought that I would be here today, as a full time photographer. I was a nurse until 2021 when i decided to do photography full time and I haven’t looked back since. I owe my success to the my wife and my friends who’ve helped me get to where I am today.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I had some struggles in the beginning. It was hard to find a starting point, and also getting my hands on some organic clientele. I was so happy to have supportive friends who would model for me. Also, dealing with imposter syndrome to this day is the worst struggle.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
So, I am mainly a wedding photographer, but I do regular portraits as well and events. When I don’t shoot weddings, i’ll do families, events, corporate events, branding, and creative projects. I’m honestly most proud of where I am today. Sounds super cliche, but when I think about all the stuff I did and all the people I’ve connected with that helped me get to where I am today, it makes me feel the proudest. I’d like to think that what sets me apart is my personality. I’m so extroverted and I genuinely want to be in my couples lives as a friend, more than just their photographer. I just want my couples to feel like they’ve known me for forever, that way their experience with me is like hiring a friend. Bonus– I do stay up to date with most of my couples and we do end up being great friends!

What matters most to you?
My wife is what matters most to me. Without her I probably would not be in the photography industry. She has been there through it all and is always the first person to tell me the truth. She’s helped me in more ways than I could have ever imagined and without that, my business would not be what it is today. She’s absolutely amazing.
