Conversations with Dekesha Anderson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dekesha Anderson.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started with hair and makeup and motivational speaking. I have always loved fashion. I’ve always wanted my hands in the industry somewhere. I enjoyed the idea of working for myself and creating my own lane, on my terms. When I saw stores starting and no location was needed, I maximized my opportunity.

I knew what I wanted to achieve and I’m still working towards my dreams coming true. I started reading articles and thinking of how I wanted to brand myself. I started watching videos and slowly buying things that were going to help me market myself. I understood the assignment and I was definitely going to need a budget and that budget had to start from my day job.

I don’t have a big support team or people that knew information about the industry to provide me with gems. However, I was determined to find information and become the team of support that Brushed Vanity would need to get off of the ground and succeed. I continue to learn new information all the time, things and people are forever changing so it’s important to pay attention and be flexible and open to change. Me helping women feel beautiful is very rewarding.

I would encourage anyone with a passion to pursue their dreams, it will be difficult at times but very much so worth it. Set goals for yourself and stay focused, in your lane and celebrate every accomplishment. Don’t look at the support given just keep grinding and the right support in your lane will come.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Yes, it has been smooth.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in everyday fashion. The name of my company is Brushed Vanity. I’m most proud of my drive and confidence. There were just as many reasons for me to sit down as there were to stand up, but I decided to change the narrative and do something that was going to be rewarding for me mentally and bring in additional financial resources.

I welcome the challenges, I’m hungry, I’m determined, and I take pride in all that I do. I have many future goals for Brushed Vanity, and I feel it will definitely succeed.

Any big plans?
To find designs that make the ladies go crazy… Brushed Vanity is forever evolving.
