Conversations with DaMiana Wells

Today we’d like to introduce you to DaMiana Wells.

Hi DaMiana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey has always been rooted in creativity, self-expression, and creating something from nothing. I’ve always had a passion for beauty, fashion, and entertainment, but I didn’t realize at first that those passions would eventually become the foundation of my career.

I started my entrepreneurial journey through nails, building my brand Shmoneysets. What began as a skill I learned and developed turned into a real business where I was able to connect with clients, create art, and build a name for myself. My nail journey taught me discipline, confidence, and what it truly means to be an entrepreneur, from showing up for my clients to learning the behind-the-scenes work of running a business.

As I continued to grow, I realized I wasn’t meant to be put into just one box. I’ve always been an artist at heart, which led me back to my love for music. Through my artist journey as Shmoniana, I’ve been able to tell my story, express myself, and connect with people in a different way. Music has given me another outlet to share my personality, my experiences, and my vision with the world.

Fashion has also always been a huge part of who I am, which inspired me to create SGW (Shmoney Girl World), my clothing brand built around confidence, individuality, and the idea of creating a world for “it girls” to feel seen and empowered. SGW represents more than clothing — it represents a lifestyle, a mindset, and the journey of becoming the best version of yourself.

Today, I’m continuing to build across multiple industries while staying true to the same vision: creating, inspiring, and leaving a legacy. My story is still being written, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come; from learning a skill, to building businesses, to pursuing my dreams as an artist and entrepreneur. Everything I create is a reflection of who I am and the world I want to bring to life.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, but I think the challenges are what shaped me into the person and entrepreneur I am today. Building multiple creative businesses while still learning myself has required a lot of patience, discipline, and faith.

One of my biggest challenges has been learning how to balance being a creative and being a business owner. There’s a difference between having a vision and actually bringing that vision to life — understanding marketing, finances, consistency, customer relationships, and all the behind-the-scenes work that people don’t always see.

There have also been moments where things didn’t go exactly how I imagined. I’ve had to experience setbacks, pivot, and learn that one outcome does not define my journey. Whether it was growing my nail business, finding my voice as an artist, or building my clothing brand, I’ve had to continuously remind myself that growth takes time.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to keep going even when things feel uncertain. Every challenge has pushed me to become more confident, more creative, and more intentional with what I’m building. I’m proud of the fact that I’ve continued to show up for myself and my dreams, even during seasons where I had to figure things out along the way.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work is centered around creativity, entrepreneurship, and creating experiences that allow people to express themselves. I’m a multi-disciplinary creative — I’m a nail artist, entrepreneur, musical artist, and fashion designer building my own brands across different industries.

I started with my nail business, Shmoneysets, where I specialize in creating detailed nail art and providing an experience that makes people feel confident and seen. Beyond just doing nails, I’ve always viewed beauty as a form of self-expression and a way to help people embrace who they are.

My journey as an artist led me into music under the name Shmoniana, where I use storytelling, confidence, and authenticity to connect with my audience. Music has allowed me to showcase another side of my creativity and share my perspective through my own voice.

I’m also the founder of SGW (Shmoney Girl World), my clothing brand inspired by confidence, individuality, and the lifestyle of becoming the best version of yourself. SGW represents more than fashion, it’s about creating a community and a world where people can feel empowered to be themselves.

What I’m most proud of is the fact that I’ve been able to build multiple creative outlets from my own ideas and turn my passions into something tangible. What sets me apart is my ability to create across different industries while keeping the same message at the core: confidence, self-expression, and inspiring others to dream bigger. Everything I create is connected — whether it’s beauty, music, or fashion, it all represents my vision and the world I’m building.

How do you think about luck?
I believe luck has played a role in my journey, but I also believe that preparation creates opportunities. There have definitely been moments where the right people, the right ideas, or the right timing aligned for me, and I’m grateful for those moments. However, I’ve learned that opportunities only matter when you’re willing to put in the work behind them.

I’ve experienced both good and bad seasons throughout my journey. Some opportunities came when I least expected them, while other moments challenged me to grow, pivot, and become more intentional about what I was building. The setbacks taught me patience, resilience, and how to trust my own vision even when things didn’t happen immediately.

A lot of my journey has been about creating my own opportunities. I didn’t wait for someone to give me permission to be an entrepreneur, an artist, or a designer — I started with what I had and continued to build from there. Every experience, whether positive or difficult, has contributed to the person I am today and the brands I’m creating.

I’m grateful for the doors that have opened, but I’m even more proud of the consistency, creativity, and determination that have allowed me to keep moving forward.
