Conversations with Cristian Maciel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cristian Maciel.

Hi Cristian, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I got here from Brazil in 2004 and came to play volleyball for park college as the same as my business partner Marco Rabello. After we were done with college, we worked in couple of restaurants to learn about this business and end up opening taste of Brazil back in 2013.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The way we look at it is that we approach these obstacles as opportunities to grow. And struggles are just part of the business that needs some more attention.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are a Brazilian restaurant and introducing the everyday meals we serve in Brazil is our goal. The City market is the perfect location for our concept and our strengths have been in how we present our culture and the beauty of Brazil.

What were you like growing up?
I grow up in Brazil and I started playing volleyball with ten years old, so my whole life was around sports and being competitive.
