Today we’d like to introduce you to Colt.
Hi Colt, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve been playing the piano since I was 6 years old but I didn’t start producing music until 2018 when I dropped out of college. My roommate at the time was an artist himself and kind of got me interested so I just took it from there. His brother was a known rapper at the time and I ended up producing a song for him that became my first placement. After that I just wanted to find a studio to lock-in. Ever since 2019 I’ve been running my own studio and have worked with various artists some local and some international.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No it hasn’t always been a smooth road. I’ve been running studios for years but there’s always hiccups along the way. Sometimes people you end up working with don’t always have your best interest in mind. It’s always best not get your emotions caught up into things and don’t stress anything. Consistency is also key just in the simple fact that what you put out is what you get back.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a producer from the DMV (Laurel, MD). I’ve been producing trap/hiphop music for the last 8 years. I specialize in producing, engineering, and taking ideas and turning them into timeless music. I am probably most known for the work I made with Paco Panama, a rising artist from DC. I’m most proud of everybody I’ve helped & worked with and just all the art I’ve made. I’d say what sets me apart from others is my sound and my work ethic for sure.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Keeping a level head and staying consistent
