Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna France.
Hi Brianna, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Sure! I was always into photography and cameras growing up, but I didn’t start being serious about it until high school. After graduating high school, I majored in photography in college to further grow my skillset. Since then, I’ve been continuously learning from and networking with other photographers in the area. I believe that there is always something new to learn and love discovering ways to make my art better.
When I first started out, I was mostly photographing portraits, but I also tried a variety of other styles of photography to see where my sweet spot was. Today, my focus is still on portraits and lifestyle. I enjoy interacting and working with people to help capture some of their favorite memories!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t always been smooth. Photography isn’t a cheap career or hobby, so of course there were some financial struggles, especially in the beginning when trying to get all of the necessary equipment. The best way is to get the basics to start, and then add and upgrade over time.
Another struggle for me would be marketing. Most of my business comes from word of mouth. I love my clients and appreciate when they recommend me to others! However, I sometimes struggle with marketing myself and my business to reach a wider audience. I’m working on getting better with advertising more and hope to see some progress in the near future!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Of course! I’m a photographer, and I specialize in portraits and lifestyle. It’s hard to choose what I’m most proud of because I have favorites from every shoot. I always believe my best work is whatever my latest shoot was!
I love being able to capture personalities on camera even if it’s something simple like a headshot. I enjoy authentic moments and aim to shoot as many as possible in a single session. So while there are some posed photos, I also deliver a lot of candid moments that clients didn’t even know were happening at the time. I think that’s what sets me apart from others.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I think risk taking is both scary and necessary for growth. I’m someone who enjoys my comfort zone, so I don’t take risks often. However, there are moments when I’m tired of being comfortable and the only option for growth is risking the unknown. Usually, the reward is worth the risk. Even if the outcome isn’t what was expected, it still stretched me and allowed me to experience something I wouldn’t have otherwise. So, I think as long as it won’t cause any harm to you or others, everyone should take a risk at least once, for the plot!
