Today we’d like to introduce you to Bri Hull.
Hi Bri, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I’ve worked in corporate marketing for almost seven years, and while it can be a creative job, I always knew I was meant for something more; meant to work for myself. I’ve always had a love for fashion and style and wanted it to be part of my career, but I was never quite sure how or what that would look like.
So I started by meshing my experience as a copywriter with this passion and tried to make my way into the blogging industry about five years ago, then again two years ago… but as you can tell by this pattern, traditional blogging just wasn’t working for me.
I thought the only way into this world of fashion would be through the corporate side, but then came the dreadful year that was 2020 and we were all locked in our homes with nothing to do but binge watch Tiger King and download TikTok. As a creative individual, I saw TikTok as an opportunity to start channeling that creativity, but it wasn’t until I set a bigger goal across all social channels that I really was able to grow and share with a bigger audience.
The goal was to post 365 times in 365 days, sharing my love for fashion and style. On the tenth day of my goal, I had a TikTok go viral and it changed everything! From there, I was able to start my business – Bri Hull Style – which originally started as style consultations and helping others find their Color Palette Closets. I learned quickly, however, that businesses are always evolving and changing and the most fulfilling thing for me to do was to let it!
I quickly added personal shopping into my suite of services, changed the consultations into a more elaborate VIP experience, continued to develop Color Palette Closets, and started sharing even more content on TikTok and Instagram – everything from how to build a closet you’re confident with to easy outfit ideas! I have since launched a Closet Organization & Purging Guide, a style guide complete with a “find your style” quiz, a free Color Palette Closet quiz, and so much more.
Today, I work mainly with VIP clients and styling photo shoots in addition to partnering with fashion, lifestyle, and beauty brands as I continue to share on Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, and soon, YouTube!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was really hard to figure out “what to do” at first. Looking back, it’s obvious that I was trying to fit into this box of what I thought was right. Of what I thought was what I had to be doing to be successful as someone in fashion. I found that being myself and doing what feels right is ultimately what led to my success. That and being able to adapt and change!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a content creator and style entrepreneur, specializing in sharing realistic outfit ideas, style inspiration, and how to simplify your closet to find confidence in everyday life. I can attribute my start, however, to the Color Palette Closet, which is the idea of only having certain colors within your closet!
This concept simplifies the getting ready process and shopping, which both can lead to more confidence. And I’m really proud of how many people I’ve been able to help find ease and joy in getting ready, which has led to less stressful lives and more people being sure of and happy with who they are!
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
A lot of my mentors I’ve connected with online and the easiest way to do that is to just reach out! It can seem scary, but I’ve found more often than not, people who you look up to were once in your shoes and would LOVE to help. Whether it’s answering questions or giving advice, there’s a good chance they’d be more than willing to chat with you if they can.
