Conversations with Ashley Falzone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Falzone.

Hi Ashley, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Hello, I am Ashley Falzone, Owner of A|F SALON. I have had the great pleasure of being in the hair industry for over 10 years. I’ve had over 10 years of loving what I do, and for that, I couldn’t be more grateful. My hair journey started at Paris II Hair Academy in late 2010 after attending College for Interior Design and Architecture on an Academic Scholarship. I’ve always had an intense eye for anything beautiful, no matter what that be. My true passion has always been hair. I attended College for a semester at Park University. Although I was doing well, I wasn’t enjoying it. I had only attended because my generation is raised to think College is the only way to be successful. After completely dreading every day in a traditional classroom, I decided I had to follow my heart and do hair. Growing up I was always the girl giving everything and everyone I knew a makeover. I gave my Barbies makeovers, I gave my Bratz Dolls makeovers. It was something I always excelled at and enjoyed.

Most of my childhood friends and family can say they were getting haircuts from me long before I was trained. It was a skill that naturally came to me.

Once graduating cosmetology school, I started as an Assistant in another local Kansas City Salon and have hit the ground running since. I have been lucky to work under many great stylists in the Kansas City area, as well as across the country. It has truly been a dream!

My most current hair venture, A|F SALON has been open since March 2021. It is an amazing space located in Historic Crossroads KC off of 20th and Grand in the Firestone Building. Even in the midst of a pandemic, my husband attending law school, and us raising four children we have opened a beautiful relaxing space that I consider my second home. With a perfect view of the city, music that vibes, and complimentary beverages, it is truly a nice place to relax and be pampered. I am beyond excited to be where I am and hope it inspires others to go out and take what they want.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Starting a business always has some rough spots, especially when it comes to creating websites! Before I started A|F Salon I was a booth renter at other local Salons for many years, so the transition felt rather easy. It’s great to see when your hard work pays off.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My strength and favorite thing to do is definitely Extensions. I absolutely love the confidence that radiates from a client after a Beaded Row Extension Service. There is personally no better feeling for me than to know someone is feeling themselves. My goal is to make you feel like you! I am very passionate when it comes to Hair Color. I get to constantly paint art on hair all day and it’s awesome. No head is the same, no color is exactly the same, nothing is cookie cutter and it keeps things interesting. My favorite is to create gorgeous Balayage Blends and Blondes!

Curly hair is also something I have grown quite fond of. Many people have the most gorgeous curls and have never been properly taught how to manage them. That is totally important to know, and I’m here to help! I’ve been dedicated to helping curly-haired girls for close to eight years now.

What sets me apart from the crowd in my opinion is my attention to detail and genuine feeling of wanting to deliver premium service to my guests from beginning to end.

The thing I love the most about the hair industry is connecting with other Humans. I love hearing stories, advice, thoughts, aspirations, experiences, adventures of each and every client that sits in my chair. If it wasn’t for all the inspiring clients I have in my life, my job wouldn’t be as amazing as it is.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
There’re many things that make me happy like family, friends, flowers, art, history, and sunny summer days. I personally feel the happiest writing songs and playing my acoustic guitar. I’m definitely a bit rusty, but it’s the thing that allows me to relax and reflect. Music seems to be in the background of everything we do in life, and I like to be a part of that.
