Community Highlights: Meet Dr. Taylor & Dr. Mary Phipps of Innate Family Chiropractic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Taylor & Dr. Mary Phipps.

Hi Dr. Phipps & Dr. Phipps, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Dr. Taylor- I was a chiropractic kid. I grew up going to the chiropractor because chiropractic greatly help my sister with poor sleep do to reflux. Chiropractic care help me with my allergies as a kid and continues to help to this day.

Dr. Mary- My journey to chiropractic started when I was experiencing significant health challenges. I had been on medications for anxiety/depression and focus issues. I was also experiencing irregularities in my menstrual cycles and taking ibuprofen every day due to low-back pain. At one point, I was also told I may not be able to have children. When I started regular chiropractic care, of course, my low-back pain went away but within a year, I was able to come off all medications and my cycle became more regular. We had our firstborn in October of 2019 and are expecting a second any day now. Our bodies were created to heal and with the help of chiropractic care, mine did just that!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Owning your own business is never an easy process. There will always be a struggle or challenge at any level you reach. We look at all challenges as an opportunity to improve ourselves so we can become better at what we do. We know that many people struggled through the pandemic but we looked at it as an opportunity to refine us so we can serve our community at a greater capacity.

We’ve been impressed with Innate Family Chiropractic, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We help families live their lives at an optimal level! We know that the nervous system is the cornerstone of our health and that’s our focus. We are known for our perinatal and infant/pediatric care. We want to ensure that the younger generations don’t end up suffering with the same problems that their parents did. Our passion is making generational change right here in Kansas City.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Dr. Taylor- I was fishing overnight with my grandpa and uncle out on a boat on a lake when a massive storm started to come in. We saw all the other boats start toward the dock and we happened to be one of the lasts ones to make it to the dock. By this time the storm was in full effect. The rain was coming down in sheets and you could only see a few feet in front of you. I was almost blown into the lake several times trying to help my grandpa back up the boat trailer and at one point a huge gust of when blew me back and pinned me up again a road sign. Being only 10 or 11 years old it was quite the experience and fishermen’s tail.

Dr. Mary- Riding horses and mules with my dad’s best friend in Iowa!
