Community Highlights: Meet Sydni Russell of Jill Marie Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydni Russell.

Hi Sydni, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The idea of Jill Marie started when I would go shopping for baby clothes. I was always so much more excited about shopping for my son and my daughter versus shopping for me. Once I was pregnant with my daughter, my baby boutique idea resurfaced and then I knew I had a cute model on my hands as well. 🙂 Another motivation for me was that I wanted to make her feel like she could do anything she wanted by seeing her mom actually doing something herself. When the pandemic hit, it really put a lot into perspective for me that tomorrow is not promised and if I want to do something, there is no need to wait. The pandemic really lit a fire under me and I never looked back. My boutique officially launched on October 7th, 2020.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
At first, I honestly had no idea what to expect, whether it be the sales coming in, costs, etc, I just knew I wanted to do it and felt in my heart I truly could. It is more work than I expected especially when things get busy (which is the best feeling) but I have always just adjusted no matter if I was swarmed or had to stay up all night, I had to realize that wow, a lot of people actually like my stuff and people really paid for this so I must deliver and not disappoint them.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Jill Marie is a boutique that pertains to baby, toddler, youth and adult clothing. We specialize in baby/toddler clothing but have grown to serve youth and adults. What sets Jill Marie apart from other boutiques is that we keep baby clothing neutral and clean because we want the parent to be able to add to or mix and match to achieve the look they want their little one in. Also, a lot of baby clothing has a lot of prints and characters and sometimes parents may not always want to put their kids in that always and it’s great for photo shoots or Instagram photos as well (haha). I am most proud of the quality and style of the clothing. Nothing I sell I wouldn’t put on my daughter or myself. Everything is thought out and we always try to provide chic clothing but still keeping it appropriate for babies.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I feel that adjusting and not stopping when things get hard are definitely helping my business grow. I never thought I would be providing adult clothing this soon, but I listen to the customers and their needs and wants and keep an open mind to what the future of my business holds and never try to put Jill Marie in a box.
