Hi Steven, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Absolutely. Renovating KC was born from a simple but powerful idea: that every home has untapped potential, and with the right team and vision, that potential can be unlocked to create beautiful, functional living spaces.
Officially formed the company in 2022, by brothers Steven Ross and Ben Ross, Each of us brought a different strength to the table—operations, design, project management—which allowed us to hit the ground running. From the beginning, our goal was to offer more than just remodeling services. We wanted to deliver a dependable, professional experience that homeowners could trust – with an exceptional experience!
As we grew, we sharpened our focus on design-build remodeling. We built systems, invested in project management software, and scaled up our crews to handle everything from kitchen overhauls to full-home renovations. .
It’s been a rewarding journey, and we’re just getting started!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s definitely not been a smooth road. Like many in the construction and small business world, we’ve faced just about every challenge you can imagine—project delays, staffing hiccups, budgeting issues, and the constant learning curve of business ownership. But we’ve learned that there’s no substitute for learning by doing. When issues arise—and they always do—it comes down to one thing: taking ownership. We believe in doing what’s right, whether that means making it right for a customer or supporting our team through a tough situation. That mindset has shaped who we are and how we lead Renovating KC today.
