Community Highlights: Meet Sophia Albert of Essential Romance Travel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophia Albert.

Hi Sophia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got started in the travel industry in 2019 as a reservations agent for a luxury travel wholesaler. I immediately loved being able to combine two of my favorite things: travel and planning. After more than five years of learning the industry there, I knew it was time to step out on my own. That’s when Essential Romance Travel was born.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. Travel trends are always changing, so it’s important to find the balance between adapting and growing with the industry while staying true to the foundation of your business. At the end of the day, people want personal connection. They want to talk to someone they trust with their travels, not just book the latest hotel that went viral online. Since there’s always something new, I think the key is keeping that balance between staying fresh and staying grounded in what truly matters which is genuine service and connection.

As you know, we’re big fans of Essential Romance Travel. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Essential Romance Travel is a modern-day, full-service travel agency. I specialize in planning custom itineraries for couples celebrating their honeymoon, anniversary, or simply wanting to get away. I offer a personal, high-touch service that allows me to design trips that reflect my clients’ priorities and travel style. We’re all so busy in our day-to-day lives that it can feel like a task in itself to find the time for an escape, let alone research destinations, compare resorts, and plan every detail. I believe travel and experiencing new cultures is an essential part of life, so my goal is to remove at least one obstacle that stands in the way of couples sharing those experiences together.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was always ambitious growing up and loved being involved in different activities. I’ve always loved exploring new places, even from a young age. I remember being asked what I wanted to be when I grew up and saying, ‘a travel agent, if those are still a thing,’ which feels so funny to look back on now.
