Community Highlights: Meet Paige Contestabile of Turn the Paige Real Estate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Contestabile.

Hi Paige, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am originally from St. Louis, MO. I have a pretty big family but growing up it was primarily just myself, my mom, and my older brother. My mom was a single parent and we oftentimes struggled getting by. My mom worked in the Real Estate industry for many years when I was a child. I remember on days where I was not in school I would ride along with my mom to her appointments. I got to see and experience commercial buildings and residential homes. I loved it! My mom and I had a tradition on Sundays to go find open houses to walk through just because. As I got older, the thought of making Real Estate my career was fleeting. This industry was always portrayed to me to be very difficult to start in as it takes a good amount of money, time, and energy. When I graduated from high school I started working on my prerequisites for a degree in the medical field and eventually I switched everything over to pursue a business degree. When Covid hit, I was in school and I was also managing the customer service department of a private flight-based operation in St. Louis. There were several major life changes happening at that time and I decided to leave it all behind in St. Louis to pursue the career of my dreams in Real Estate.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
This has been far from a smooth road. Everything I was told about getting into the Real Estate industry is true. It is not easy. Any business that you start takes time to grow. There’s a lot of advice and shiny objects in this field, so for a beginner it can be hard to navigate. Training was my number one priority to start out. I sought out every opportunity I could to learn from other successful agents and to sit in on inspections to learn more about housing. Living in a new city and starting a ‘word of mouth’ business can be a struggle. You have to be willing to put yourself out there, mess up, and get rejected. I, fortunately, had a very successful first year in the business helping lots of amazing clients buy and sell homes. The key I learned is to find what works for you and stick with it. Consistency is everything.

As you know, we’re big fans of Turn the Paige Real Estate. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I have been passionate about Real Estate my entire life and have made it my mission to learn everything I can with the goal to serve people with the highest level of service and knowledge possible. I love to educate my friends, family, current clients, and future clients on the market and the buying and selling process. I take pride in my connection and communication skills with the people I am honored to help. I like to take care of my clients as if they are family.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I would say for the most part I am pretty cautious and analytical. This can be a major set back for me at times because risk is a key element to pushing past barriers of success. I took a huge risk moving to a new city at the start of a pandemic and leaving my salary position and safety net of family for a position as a transaction coordinator with a huge pay cut while I studied hard to get my Real Estate license. Once I got my license, I joined a Real Estate team in my office and learned the ropes trying to soak everything up like a sponge. Then I took my next big risk by stepping out on my own as an individual agent, moving to a more enriching office, and creating my own brand. I think risk-taking is essential to any highly successful person.
