Community Highlights: Meet Meghan Dahlhauser Hermelink of The DahlHaus Bridal Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meghan Dahlhauser Hermelink.

Hi Meghan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I have worked with prom, homecoming & bridal gowns since I was 15. This was the industry I felt most comfortable in and had developed a passion for gowns and helping ladies find the dresses of their dreams. I lived and worked in Colorado for a year, but moved back to the KC area in May and thought there was no better time to start my own shop.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a business is not easy, especially in a well-established industry. I have been so lucky to have the support system I have had to push me through the rough patches.

I have always dreamt of owning my own store but was not prepared to deal with the lack of appointments being booked, shipping issues with inventory, cost, etc. Even though it was not easy, it has been so worth it to finally own my small business!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The DahlHaus Bridal Boutique?
The DahlHaus Bridal Boutique is a small, locally-owned bridal shop in Shawnee, KS. We specialize in designer gowns, veils, and jewelry. Being a small boutique means we do not carry hundreds of gowns at a time, but definitely allows for a more specified shopping experience with our brides.

Having one consultant and one bride at a time really gives our store a more intimate appointment with more focus on our brides and their families. We carry gowns of all sizes in order to be as inclusive as possible. Brides of all body types deserve to feel the same way when shopping for their gowns and we pride ourselves on giving that experience.

How do you define success?
Success often looks like money, a nice house, a nice car, etc., but I see success as doing what you love while helping people in the process. I see myself as successful because I am doing what I love and get to make brides feel special when planning their big day.

Pricing:

  • Gowns: $1,500 – $2,500
  • Jewelry: $40 – $100
  • Veils: $150 – $350
