Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Lane And Chad Barnes.
Hi Matt Lane and Chad Barnes, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Matt Lane and Chad Barnes opened F.I.T. Muscle & Joint Clinic in Shawnee, KS in 2012 with some aggressive goals in mind. Not only did they want to develop and grow a cutting-edge clinic, offering the best in musculoskeletal rehab, but they wanted to develop a model changing healthcare. They wanted to create a place that allowed practitioners to grow as professionals and a practice that focused solely on patient care, helping patients on their journey to optimal musculoskeletal health. Through prioritizing one on one care, hands on manual therapy with an active rehab approach and utilizing the expertise of various specialities, F.I.T. now has grown to have 11 KC Metro locations and 1 Des Moines location where physical therapists, chiropractors and occupational therapists work collaboratively. It is the incredible team of providers and staff dedicated to improving healthcare in their communities that inspires Matt and Chad daily: the team and the communities that support FIT mean the world to them.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As with growing any business, there will be trials and tribulations but its how you change and grow through those that matters. We’ve had to navigate a myriad of issues, an EMR crash, COVID, and system failures keeping us from being able to bill out for months, just to name a few. But it was the resilience of the team that kept us going and truly empowered us to stay focused and continue to be innovative and committed to being better. Each struggle has been, and will continue to be, an opportunity for us learn and grow so that we can be the best we can both for our team members and our patients.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
F.I.T. Muscle & Joint Clinic is a locally owned physical therapy, chiropractic and occupational therapy clinic. We are passionate about helping our clients move and feel better than before. We don’t settle for the status quo or getting you just back to the baseline, but we expertly care for our patients, leading to the most profound improvements in musculoskeletal health.
Patients deserve to have a provider who knows their individual case. At F.I.T. our team prioritizes one on one care, so our team can be experts in each patient’s needs and goals, therefore we don’t have any techs or aids. Each of our appointments offers individualized care with the expert who knows your case. Our unique model utilizes the expertise and training of different specialists to provide an elevated, collaborative care approach. With a team of physical therapists, chiropractors and occupational/hand therapists we have a breadth of knowledge to pull from and utilize to ensure our patients receive the highest level of care possible. Through a combination of the leading manual therapy (dry needling, graston, cupping and more) and active rehab techniques, our patients recover more effectively and efficiently: helping patients return to life and achieving their goals is our passion.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The incredible team members is really the lifeblood of this company. We hire really amazing people who genuinely care and are passionate about what they do. We buck the typical medical model and strive to be a place people enjoy coming to. Being in pain or injured is tough and can be quite discouraging for people, so we’re dedicated to creating a place where patients can be seen and heard and feel like they’re a part of the family, while having a little fun.
