Community Highlights: Meet Maria Song of Appliances 4 Less

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Song.

Hi Maria, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
In 2005, I came to the USA to study and get my MBA degree. Following school, I started working in Los Angeles. I worked for an import/export company. After getting married, my husband and I started our online business mainly selling crank desks, electric desks, ergonomic chairs, children’s toys, and furniture.

We moved from Los Angeles 6 years ago to Kansas City. We kept our online business until we had the opportunity to join the franchised chain Appliances 4 Less America two years ago. The chain sells a wide variety of discounted customer returned and scratch & dent appliances, mainly from major global brands such as LG and Samsung.

We are dedicated to bringing our customers Quality Major Appliances from brands all over the globe. Currently, we are the biggest re-seller of LG and plan to expand our brands starting this year to include additional globally recognized brands.

Our goal is for customers purchasing major appliances to have a sense of ease, knowing they have purchased a quality appliance that will last a long time at the best prices available. Our first store was opened on 75th Street in Kansas City, Missouri and recently we’ve opened our Show Room Floor store in Olathe, Kansas.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Due to being a franchise store, we were blessed by the support from the corporate offices. This allowed starting without much issue.

We’ve been impressed with Appliances 4 Less, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Appliances 4 Less, we are a scratch and dent appliance retailer. Our two major appliance brands are currently LG and Samsung. We are looking into other major appliance brands from around the world.

We believe our deep discounted prices on new appliances set us apart from other retailers. We offer refrigerators, ranges, washers, dryers, microwaves, and dishwashers. Apart from appliances we also offer flooring. The scratches and dents allow us to offer up to 50% off of the manufacturer’s suggested retail prices.

Due to the nature of scratch and dent appliances, no factory warranty is offered; however, we do give a one-year warranty on our products, with the option of purchasing an extended warranty of up to four years. We are sure that our warm, friendly customer service will earn your loyalty as a lifelong customer.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
The reason I love Kansas City is that the seasons are closer to where I grew up in North-East China, Jinlin Province. Living in Los Angeles, the weather was nice, but it only felt like one season for me.

After I moved to Kansas City, it felt like I had come home. Back home in the Jilin Province, we had four distinct seasons, just like KC. One of the things I loved about my childhood was the vast selection of foods we had to eat.

One of my favorites was the BBQ kabobs we used to eat! Korean food was very similar to ours, cold noodles put on ice during the summer, a little sweet, a little sour.
