Community Highlights: Meet Mackinze Tabor of M-Power Salon & Spa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mackinze Tabor.

Hi Mackinze, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started as a clueless 22 year old with the mentatily that I had nothing to lose and took the chance of opening my business! I started by myself and slowly started to grow after that! I served tables on the weekends for 3 years until I was able to pay myself through my business! Now almost 9 years in business, we were able to expand and rebrand. We started with a 3 service room facility and now our new spot has 7 service rooms, hairstations and a private party room/ conference room! We host little girl spa parties on the weekends! We are a full service medspa and salon that offers everything but nails! The best part of our M-Power community is that we see multiple clients at least once a week for a different service! Its very special to see clients get their hair, facials, botox, etc done at M-Power!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, not smooth at all. I wish I would have had more knowledge on how a business works and operates. espically whe n it comes to taxes and employees! I have had to learn the hard way in many business areas. A few years ago I thought quanity was better than quality and that was a tough lesson to learn but it has made me grow as a person and business owner!

We’ve been impressed with M-Power Salon & Spa, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a full service salon and spa that offers everything but nails! We are not only a medspa and salon but a licensed Tattoo Establishment, which allows us to offer permanent makeup and tattoos! I am most proud of the community we have built and how many of our clients see all the staff members for different services which makes them feel like family!

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love that Lee’s Summit keep growing and is such a fun city to live in! I would say I am not a fan of a medspa being on every corner now adays!
