Today we’d like to introduce you to Mackaylee Beach.
Mackaylee, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Growing up, I did well in school but after all of the drama at home, my escape was competitive cheerleading. After my parents separated, I was forced to quit cheer because we couldn’t afford it. Luckily my coaches and the gym owners saw something in me and offered to sponsor me and pay for the tuition.
I knew the only way I’d be able to attend college was with a scholarship, which I was offered my Junior year of high school. After a severe knee injury and a forced year off of cheerleading, I lost the scholarship and hope for my future.
After graduation, I decided to apply for financial aid and student loans because that’s what we’re taught. Even after my trial attempt at college, I found myself bored and unsure of what I really wanted to do with my career.
I took some time off, worked as a server then stumbled upon an entrepreneurship program, also referred to as multi-level marketing. I learned so much about myself and about business in a short two years of being involved in the program. I met a lot of people which ultimately led me to stumble upon a mentorship in Real Estate. Knowing nothing of real estate, except my favorite HGTV shows, I took a leap and started working for a small company in KC that flipped properties to out-of-state investors.
With the help and attention of the owner of that company, I was able to obtain my real estate license and learn more in-depth knowledge about real estate, flipping, accounting, rehabbing, rentals, property management, marketing, and more. Fast forward to today, I was able to flip almost 70 of my own single-family homes in 2021.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Being a young, female in this industry is the biggest obstacle. Today, I’m 28 years old but when my career started I was 21. Plus, real estate is a mostly man-dominated field.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about 1 Cash Flow Source LLC?
We are flipping homes in the Kansas City Metro. Most of our homes are located in poverty-stricken areas. We buy distressed homes with the intention of selling them. At this point, we are 100% self-funded and even plan to start engaging our nonprofit (Heart at Work) soon.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
It’s all in the details! Both in my rehabs and in my day-to-day of running a business, I’ve learned the processes and details in place that will create a well-oiled machine of a company.
