Hi Levi, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my business in 2023, I had enough of being treated like a number at my first garage door employer. I had no idea what to do or how to do it, but very quickly, I learned the computer can make more money than the tools. I spent many hours building price books and writing ad copy.
My first year went above average in revenue, I averaged more door sales than service as a total. That first year I was ambitious and set off to get my contracting license, so I studied and studied and after taking the test twice I passed my ICC exam and could get my license. From there I got my company and I certified to renovate lead based paint with a license from KDHE and the EPA.
Toward the end of year 1, I had started contracting work with the JOCO housing and urban development. I completed a job for them and took on a private
sector job I knew I shouldn’t have. Long story short I got messed over $8k on an exterior home renovation. Being a business owner that didn’t want to over leverage themselves, I cut back ads and business plummeted.
My second year was extremely slow compared to the first year. Less ad money meant less customers calling me.
As we are completing our third year in business, I’m starting to see organic growth in landlord/tenant relationships as well as our garage door service work
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Valhalla Door is a residential garage door installation and repair company. I learned installation from the corporate giant that’s been established since 1926, I trained other technicians there as well. I specialize in re-frames, i.e. two single doors to one double door, or an accident with the vehicle into the garage door wall.
I’m proud of the clear communication my brand has as well as the trust and loyalty my customers have shown.
We offer KC made garage doors primarily, we pride ourselves on our attention to detail during all work done. We offer residential garage door installation and service with an option for more with proper licensing
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Find a mentor, definitely, I have had one and it has proved to help me more than I thought possible
