Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Twenter.
Hi Julie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
For a long time, I carried a quiet grief in my heart from not being able to have children of my own. It was something I struggled to make peace with, and no matter what job I had or path I followed, I always felt like something was missing. I wanted my life’s work to matter. I wanted to make an impact. I knew I was meant to do something special.
Yoga became my healing space. It taught me how to sit with what is, how to find gratitude, and how to transform pain into purpose. As I deepened my practice, I became a Registered Yoga Teacher, earned my Group Fitness Certification, and became certified in Children’s Yoga. That’s when everything clicked.
I realized that while I may not have been meant to be a mother in the traditional sense, I was absolutely meant to work with children. I decided to stop waiting for fulfillment to come to me and instead create it. That’s how Pose & Play Yoga was born.
Pose & Play Yoga is more than a program — it’s my way of nurturing, guiding, and positively impacting children’s lives through movement, mindfulness, and play. Every class allows me to pour love, connection, and encouragement into young hearts and minds. What once felt like a loss has become a beautiful gift. I didn’t just find my purpose — I created it.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like most meaningful journeys, it’s been full of uncertainty, self-doubt, and moments where I questioned whether I was doing the right thing. Starting Pose & Play Yoga meant stepping away from what felt safe and familiar and choosing to believe in myself before there was any proof that it would work.
One of the biggest struggles was learning how to be both the creator and the business owner. I had to figure out marketing, pricing, contracts, and how to advocate for the value of my work — all while still staying rooted in my heart and my purpose. There were times when I felt invisible, when I poured so much energy into something and wondered if anyone truly saw the impact I was trying to make.
But every struggle shaped me. Every setback taught me resilience, faith, and trust in the process. The road hasn’t been easy, but it’s been real — and I wouldn’t trade it, because it continues to lead me to a life that finally feels aligned, purposeful, and true to who I am.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Pose & Play Yoga ?
Pose & Play Yoga is a children’s wellness program rooted in the belief that emotional health is just as important as physical health — and that both can be nurtured through movement, mindfulness, and play. We offer yoga and mindfulness programs for children of all ages, including preschool and elementary school classes, family yoga, mommy-and-me, community centers, summer camps, and libraries..
What we specialize in is making yoga accessible, joyful, and developmentally appropriate for children. Our classes are story-based, imaginative, and designed to meet kids where they are — using music, games, breathing exercises, and creative themes to help them build confidence, emotional regulation, body awareness, and social skills.
What truly sets Pose & Play Yoga apart is that it’s not about perfect poses — it’s about connection. We focus on the whole child: mind, body, and heart. Every class is intentionally designed to feel safe, inclusive, playful, and empowering. Children don’t just learn yoga — they learn how to calm their nervous systems, express their feelings, work as a team, and believe in themselves.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that Pose & Play Yoga has become known for its heart. Schools and families trust us because I choose to lead with authenticity, compassion, and purpose. This isn’t a franchise model or a one-size-fits-all program — it’s a deeply personal mission to support children’s mental and emotional well-being in a world that’s increasingly fast, loud, and overwhelming.
What I want readers to know is that Pose & Play Yoga is more than a class — it’s an experience. It’s a space where children feel seen, supported, and celebrated for exactly who they are. And for parents and schools, it’s an investment in raising calmer, more confident, emotionally resilient humans. That’s the impact I care most about, and that’s the legacy I’m building.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something that often surprises people is that Pose & Play Yoga didn’t come from a place of confidence — it came from a place of vulnerability. Most people see the joy, the energy, and the heart behind my work, but they don’t always realize that this brand was built during one of the most uncertain and emotional seasons of my life. I really took a giant leap of faith in myself, and continue to learn about myself even today.
Creating Pose & Play Yoga wasn’t just a business decision — it was a healing process. I built it while learning how to trust myself, how to take risks, and how to believe that my purpose didn’t have to look like everyone else’s.
Another surprising thing is that I’m actually more introverted than people expect. I draw a lot of my strength from reflection, writing, and being present in small, meaningful moments. Teaching and leading may look natural now, but it took courage to step into visibility and share my voice.
It’s the foundation of everything I do.
