Community Highlights: Meet Joseph Sheppard of Good JuJu with JoJo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Sheppard.

Hi Joseph, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up seeing dead people and angels since the age of four. My parents thought I just had an over active imagination. I’ve always felt comfortable with the inner wisdom from the voices I heard in my head. My depression and periodical suicidal thoughts proved to be hard challenges, especially having a speech impediment growing up. I survived being struck by lightning, I called it my magic activation moment. My clairvoyant, clairaudient, and clairsentient abilities heightened after this near death experience. Slowly, but surely I grew out of my depression by surrounding myself with loving people and sharing the compassion I had for others with myself. Now I help people through life coaching, intuitive, and energy healing to let go of mental, emotional, and spiritual blockages that they have.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s definitely not been smoothed. I grew up with a speech impediment and rocked back and forth quite a bit, so other kids thought I was mentally challenged. Dealt with much inner child self-worth and rejection wounds. Many days I would spend in my room dancing for hours to let go of the chaos and mood swings. Second-guessing myself, anxiety, thinking I was bipolar or schizophrenic in the darkest of moments, but the angels would always remind me of the positive impact I had on people. It took me several years to open up about my depression and suicidal thoughts. I treated people with the golden rule “treat others how you would like to be treated.” Many painful lessons with setting boundaries with people who took advantage of my kindness. Struggles with social anxiety and how I presented myself for many years and had a hard time developing intimate relationships. Frustrations with sexuality has also been a rough patch in my life. Many people often assume I haven’t experienced traumas and just assume that I’ve had an easy life.

As you know, we’re big fans of Good JuJu with JoJo. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Good JuJu with JoJo provides a variety of intuitive readings and energy healing work intertwined with life coaching to help people with mental, emotional, and spiritual blocks. Being a published author of the “Life of an Empath” series, I’ve written about my journey of mental illness and spirituality, grief, and self-love through the eyes of a unicorn. I’m known to be a unicorn in the metaphysical community. I’m known for my angel, aura, and elemental readings and angelic reiki. Many people are inspired by my strong inner child and living in the flow of life. I do house clearings and helping balance energy of spaces, tarot parties, and galleries as well. I’m most proud of the books I’ve written and the connection I make with my clients to help open up their vulnerability to start their self-healing process. I’m eccentric and eclectic and I’m not afraid to be my full authentic self. It’s funny because people get intimidated by how open I am at first, but then they start opening up more when I lead by example. What I find inspirational is the kindness and compassion that I share, positively changes a person’s life.

What does success mean to you?
Success is keeping persevering through the challenges and obstacles in our paths. Life is about lesson and everything is a learning experience. The bigger the impact I make on my community or a person’s life, the more fulfilled with joy my heart gets. It’s about making a positive difference and helping people step into their own gifts to share with the world. Everyone has a beautiful gift to share with the world. Seeing the beauty even in the ugliest of situations can find that spark in a shift of positive direction. For me, failure is part of the process; it’s only an ending if we allow it to be an ending. Success is having the courage to move forward when life pushes us back. Recognition and admiration is nice, but I love helping other people to feel better about themselves and help them grow into a better version of themselves.
