Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessie Schultz.
Hi Jessie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey with photography began as a child, when I first picked up a camera and fell in love with capturing everything! Ever since I can remember I have always loved photos and video editing. What started as a creative hobby quickly grew into something more—I launched my own photography business at 18 years old, driven by the desire to tell people’s stories through my lens. My mentor and friend, Beth Hodge with @melissaandbethphotography, was/is a big inspiration to me as well. Her guidance and support helped encourage me to keep learning and growing! Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of photographing everything from intimate family sessions to unforgettable weddings, After all, at the end of the day memories fade but photos help trigger those moments back for a moment.
Now, at 33, photography remains one of the most rewarding parts of my life. Though I do it part-time, my dedication to my craft and my clients has never wavered. Every photo I take is about more than just an image—it’s about connection, memory, and meaning. My phrase for my business is “take all the photos.” Whether it’s the quiet details of a wedding day or the joy of a family gathering – if it matters to you, it matters to me.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My road as a photographer has been rewarding and, for the most part, smooth, but it hasn’t come without its challenges. Being from a small town, I had to work hard to build a name for myself and find creative ways to grow my business locally. Over the years, I’ve faced ups and downs but through dedication, word of mouth, and the support of my amazing clients, my photography business has continued to stay busy. The biggest compliment to a photographer is repeat customers. I am so blessed to have a great support system around me!

I am a local photographer, offering services of all kinds. Specializing in families and small children, but dipping my toe in just about everything! What truly sets my photography business apart is the energy and heart I bring to every session. I like to keep the energy light by being bubbly, having endless patience, and developing a genuine connection with my people! This helps my clients feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. Whether I’m chasing laughter ,or looking so silly in public, I take pride in wearing many hats and giving my all to my work. I’m proud to be the kind of photographer who is reliable, upbeat, and invested in making each session special.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I absolutely love my small town and the sense of community that comes with it! It’s where my photography business was born and continues to grow. There’s something special about capturing the familiar faces, local landscapes, and the subjects that makes it feel like home. Being just a short drive from the hustle and bustle of Kansas City means I’m surrounded by a talented group of photographers, which definitely keeps the field competitive. Instead of seeing that as a challenge, I use it as motivation to keep improving, stay creative, and continue offering the experience my small-town roots have taught me.
