Community Highlights: Meet Jackie Waechter of Blissful Honeymoons & Destination Weddings

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackie Waechter.

Hi Jackie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I started my travel business 18 years ago when I purchased a franchise called All About Honeymoons. I was looking for something I could do from home for extra income while my kids were in school during the day. I knew I wanted to be in the wedding industry in some form and decided planning Honeymoons & Destination Weddings would be fun.

After nine years with All About Honeymoons, I decided to start my own agency and named it Blissful Honeymoons & Destination Weddings. It was just me and one other advisor I had trained. Soon after that, I had several former AAH advisors call me wanting to join my team. This prompted me to also start Blissful Vacations to service clients who want a wonderful vacation! We have now grown to 20 travel advisors and sell over $6 Million in travel each year. We sell the WORLD including River Cruising, Europe, Tahiti, Maldives, Safaris, and more. Of course, we still love to sell where it all started. Mexico and the Caribbean!

Covid-19 was certainly a challenge to survive but we all made it and now my entire team is a busy as we have ever been.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Covid-19 was rough. Spent an entire year re-doing the work we had already done. Travel advisors are not paid until travel is complete… and since there was no travel we did not get paid for about a year. Days were spent canceling, rebooking, following up on refunds, filing insurance claims, and calming clients’ fears. It was a rough year!

Just what the name says. We take the stress out of planning travel. Many people will be surprised to find out that they will not spend any more money using a travel advisor. We have built relationships around the globe so we get our clients the most for their money.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Finding a travel advisor who needs some help in the office is a great place to start. This is the best way to learn the business.
