Today we’d like to introduce you to Haley Wrisinger.
Hi Haley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Between undergrad and graduate school, I worked as a nanny for a family and quickly realized how much I loved being around families and children. When I signed up for chiropractic school, I knew very minimal about the different ways a chiropractor could practice i.e. pediatric, sports, elderly, family-focused, etc. I quickly realized once I started school that I was going to have to choose who I wanted to work with once I graduated. My love for pediatrics and family wellness quickly grew as I learned more about childhood development and the birth process. When I found my office space, I knew exactly who I wanted to see and how I wanted to practice. We found our building on a whim and it needed a lot of love and work. It is a beautiful space in downtown lees summit and we could not be more grateful to be there. It has a very home-like feel to ensure our families feel welcome and safe during their care in our office. We are blessed to serve the community we do and are so thankful for the unwavering support from the patients we have served since 2021.
I don’t want to leave out that a large portion of my life since undergrad has also been serving in the Missouri National Guard as a Field Artillery Officer. I spent 6 months in Fort Sill, OK for professional military education prior to chiropractic school, continued to drill during school, and have been serving during the first year in my office. It is not easy to balance these two and the military has given me many of the leadership skills I use in my office. I have been in since 2014 and am currently a Captain.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Opening and running a business has been the hardest thing I have ever done. There is more detail and planning that goes into this journey than I ever could have imagined. The hardest days I experienced were in the beginning when imposter syndrome hit me hard. I knew I had the knowledge to support and help my patients and I also experienced self-doubt because I was officially on my own in my own office.
I am the only one to make decisions, give advice, etc. and that was a big shock to me coming from another office where I did a season of maternity coverage and had multiple providers there. Being on your own is hard. Being a business owner is hard. It is and can be a 24-hour job and you have to learn to find the balance between life and work. You could work all day on a business, but you need breaks from your business, and I am thankful I realized that early on.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Mission Statement: Evergreen Chiropractic is a family-centered, connection-based healing house who are loving on His children and giving them the freedom to live their lives the way He intended. I specialize in pediatric, prenatal, and family chiropractic care for people who are wanting to be proactive with their health and wellness. The body was beautifully designed to be a self-healing and self-regulating organism which will express symptoms when it needs assistance. My job is to ensure your body finds ease so it can heal itself which allows you to live the life you imagined.
Since opening, I have found myself supporting many families during their breastfeeding journey and have been so blessed to work alongside pediatric dentists and lactation consultants to support these families during all stages of their journey. I see many mothers prenatally and postpartum to help support them during this most precious time in their life. I am certified in Webster Technique which is a specific prenatal technique designed to balance the bones, muscles, and ligaments in the pelvis as well as calm the nervous system to support the body in the birth process. I love seeing whole families in our office because I know when we adjust the whole family, they can connect better with each other because they are able to connect better within themselves. It is each person’s responsibility to take care of their body because that is the only one God gives us. When our body is functioning and feeling at its best, we are able to care for the others in our life better.
What sets our office apart from others is we have specialized scans called the CLA INSiGHT which allow us to accurately detect dysfunction in your nervous system beyond what someone may be feeling or experiencing symptomatically. These neurological scans allow us to create a plan tailored specifically to each patient and help them achieve optimal health and wellness.
Side note: I am also a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association which consists of the most highly trained practitioners who provide specific, gentle care to the families and children we serve.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
The best business move I ever did as I was opening was to meet with other providers. During my first few months of being open, I met with over 30 providers to get to know my community. This has been a huge benefit to my business and patients because I was able to create a referral list for anything my patients could ever need. We are blessed in Kansas City to have the most amazing wellness care providers that are easily accessible to the people who live here. I do not take this for granted and appreciate each and every one of these providers I have met with and referred to.
Many of the providers I have met during these meetings have quickly become mentors and friends. There is nothing I have appreciated more than to have met people along similar journeys who are so eager to help each other. This community is something special!
