Community Highlights: Meet George Vallejo of YorgoTech

Today we’d like to introduce you to George Vallejo.

Hi George, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My relationship with technology started long before it was ever a career. When I was about five years old, my great-grandfather introduced me to computers by teaching me about floppy disks and how Windows XP worked. Some of my earliest and most meaningful memories are of sitting with him and learning how machines stored information and brought it back to life. Technology always made sense to me in a way that felt intuitive and even today I tend to pick up new systems and platforms quickly including ones I have never worked with before.

That early interest led me to formally study technology at Cleveland State Community College in Cleveland Tennessee where I began an Associate of Applied Science in Cloud Computing. During that time, I also entered seminary for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Knoxville and began studying for the priesthood. The Diocese sent me to Conception Seminary College in Missouri where I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy while continuing my technical studies. In May 2024 I graduated with both degrees earning my AAS Summa Cum Laude and my BA Cum Laude.

I continued that academic and professional journey by enrolling in the online Master of Science in Computer Science program at the University of Tennessee Knoxville with a focus in cybersecurity and advanced computing which I completed in December 2025. Alongside my formal education I also earned several industry certifications including CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, ITIL 4, and Microsoft 365 Fundamentals which strengthened my ability to apply theory in real world environments.

YorgoTech grew out of that blend of technical skill academic depth and a genuine desire to help people. I wanted to build a company that offered high quality repair and refurbished devices while also treating every customer with patience honesty and respect. Whether someone is buying a computer or trying to recover important data I believe they deserve clear communication and thoughtful care.

Today I run YorgoTech alongside my professional work in IT and I also maintain a growing online community focused on kindness encouragement and showing up for others. In many ways everything I do now traces back to those early moments with my great-grandfather when I first learned that technology is not just about machines but about serving and connecting people.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been balancing intense academic work, professional responsibilities, and the emotional weight that comes with choosing an unconventional path. Moving between the worlds of seminary, philosophy, and technology required me to constantly adapt while still staying grounded in who I am and what I believe I am called to do.

There were also very real financial and logistical challenges. Building a company while working full time and completing a graduate degree required discipline, long hours, and careful planning. There were moments when it would have been easier to slow down or wait for a more comfortable time, but growth rarely happens in comfort.

On a more personal level, I have had to learn how to advocate for myself, set boundaries, and keep moving forward even when misunderstood or underestimated. Starting something new often means doing it without guarantees, without a safety net, and sometimes without external validation.

What carried me through all of it was a strong sense of purpose, a deep faith, and a commitment to serving others well. Every obstacle became an opportunity to refine not only my skills, but my character. Looking back, those challenges did not weaken the journey. They are what made it meaningful.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about YorgoTech?
YorgoTech is a technology services and refurbished device company built around one simple idea that quality and care should go hand in hand. We specialize in professionally refurbished laptops desktops and mobile devices along with repair diagnostics and data support for individuals and small businesses who want honest guidance and dependable results.

We have partnered with major industry vendors including TD SYNNEX, Ingram Micro, and D&H, and YorgoTech is also an authorized Lenovo reseller and a verified Microsoft AI Cloud Partner. These relationships allow us to source true business grade hardware software and genuine OEM parts rather than relying on cheap consumer equipment or low-quality components. Our goal is to put reliable professional level technology into the hands of everyday users and small businesses who are tired of devices that struggle the moment they try to open a Word document and a browser tab at the same time.

Every system that leaves YorgoTech is thoroughly inspected cleaned tested and configured. We document components battery health firmware and operating system status so customers know exactly what they are receiving. We only use genuine OEM parts and never cheap knockoffs because long term reliability and trust matter more than cutting corners.

YorgoTech does not currently operate a storefront. All of our work is done through mail in service and direct shipping which allows us to serve customers across the country while keeping overhead low and quality high. I would love to open a physical location sometime in 2026 if it is in Gods plan but for now this model lets us stay focused on what matters most which is doing the work well.

I am especially proud of how YorgoTech blends technical excellence with human connection. Through our growing online presence and what I call the Kindness Campaign we focus on building trust encouraging others and showing that professionalism and empathy can exist in the same space. Whether someone is buying a refurbished laptop getting a device repaired or simply asking for advice they are treated with respect and care.

At its core YorgoTech exists to make technology less intimidating and more empowering. We want our customers to feel supported informed and confident that the person on the other side truly has their best interests in mind.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
YorgoTech was built to feel approachable and local, even though we serve people by mail across the country. We work with individuals, small businesses, and parish communities who need reliable technology and a trusted person to turn to when something is not working. Whether someone is a student, a nonprofit, a small business owner, or a parish office trying to keep things running, we aim to be their friendly neighborhood help desk.

People can work with us by reaching out directly for device sales, repairs, data services, or ongoing technical support. We also collaborate with organizations that want help sourcing and maintaining business grade equipment or setting up systems that are stable, secure, and easy to manage. Many of our partnerships grow naturally from trust and word of mouth rather than formal sales pipelines.

Giving back is an important part of how YorgoTech operates. We offer discounts to students and educators, first responders, and active duty or retired veterans as a way of recognizing the people who serve and support their communities every day. It is a small way for us to say thank you and to make quality technology more accessible to those who need it.

At the end of the day, YorgoTech exists to serve. We are here to support people where they are and to help them move forward with tools that actually work and someone who genuinely cares.

Pricing:

  • A flat $99 evaluation and labor fee covers diagnosis and initial service work, is applied toward the total cost if the customer proceeds with the repair, and if not, helps cover the time, tools, and resources used to assess the device.
