Community Highlights: Meet Gabe Uhl of Redemptive Electric LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabe Uhl.

Hi Gabe, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My background is a little unconventional. I started in chemical engineering, then spent time in ministry, and eventually found my way into the trades.

Even before that, I ran my own lawn care business through college, which was my first experience building something of my own. I was able to fully finance my college education through that business, and I really enjoyed working with people and taking pride in the quality of the work, which stuck with me.

Looking back, each step built on the last—engineering taught me how to think and solve problems, ministry taught me how to work with people, and the trades gave me something tangible to build.

Over time, I realized I wanted more ownership over the quality of work and the experience I was providing to clients, which led me to start Redemptive Electric LLC.

Today, I focus on high-quality residential and custom home work, with an emphasis on doing things the right way and building long-term trust with homeowners and builders.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Real life can be messy and unpredictable at times. Like most people starting a business, there have been challenges around uncertainty, managing workload, and figuring out how to grow without sacrificing quality.

One of the biggest struggles has been learning how to balance opportunity with capacity. There can be a lot of work available, but taking on too much too quickly can impact the level of detail and care I want to bring to each project.

At the same time, I’ve had to be very intentional about prioritizing my family while building the business. That’s required setting boundaries and being disciplined with my time, even when there’s pressure to take on more work.

I’ve also had to learn how to navigate the business side of things—pricing, scheduling, and making long-term decisions instead of just short-term ones.

Those challenges have been some of the most valuable learning experiences. They’ve helped me become more intentional, more disciplined, and more focused on building something sustainable rather than just staying busy.

We’ve been impressed with Redemptive Electric LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Redemptive Electric LLC is a residential electrical company based in the Kansas City area, with a focus on custom homes and high-quality residential projects. I work closely with builders and homeowners to deliver clean, well-thought-out electrical systems that are both functional and built to last.

I specialize in custom home wiring, where attention to detail really matters—from layout and planning to the final finish. My goal is not just to meet code, but to create a level of quality that stands out and holds up over time.

What sets me apart is a strong focus on doing things the right way, even when it takes more time. I care about the details, clear communication, and building trust with the people I work with. I want clients to feel confident in the process and the final result.

The name “Redemptive” has a two-fold meaning. On a practical level, it reflects a desire to bring integrity and trust back to the trades, especially in an industry where many people have had negative experiences with contractors cutting corners or overcharging.

On a personal level, it reflects my own story and the values that shape how I run the business—approaching my work with humility, ownership, and a commitment to doing what’s right.

I’m most proud of the reputation I’m building around quality, integrity, and consistency. I want people to know that when they work with Redemptive Electric, they’re getting someone who takes pride in the work, values relationships, and is committed to delivering something they can trust long-term.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I think the electrical industry is heading toward a combination of higher demand, more technology, and greater complexity—especially in residential work.

One of the biggest shifts is the increase in energy demand and electrification. Things like electric vehicles, electric appliances, and overall power usage are continuing to grow, which means homes will require more thoughtful electrical design and larger, more capable systems.

There’s also a major move toward smart home technology and automation. Homeowners are expecting more control over lighting, energy use, and security, which is making electrical systems more integrated and tech-driven than ever before.

Renewable energy and energy storage are another big piece. Solar, battery systems, and backup power are becoming more common, and even though the market can shift with policy and pricing, the long-term trend is toward more energy independence and efficiency.

I also think we’ll continue to see pressure on the power grid as demand increases, which makes reliability and backup power more important for homeowners. Planning for things like generators or future energy storage can provide a level of security and peace of mind that a lot of people are starting to value more.

From a contractor standpoint, I think the work is becoming more specialized. Electricians who understand these newer systems—like EV charging, smart homes, and energy storage—will have a big advantage.

At the same time, I don’t think the fundamentals will change. There will always be a need for clean, reliable, well-executed work. As things get more advanced, the value of doing the basics right and paying attention to detail will only become more important.

That’s how I’m trying to position Redemptive Electric—staying up to date with where things are going, while still being grounded in quality, craftsmanship, and doing things the right way.
