Community Highlights: Meet Evan Grier of One Egg Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evan Grier.

Hi Evan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I graduated from Kansas State University in Dec 2002, moved to the Bay Area from 2003 until 2006. Moved back to the Midwest and took over Harry’s restaurant in August of 2006 with my wife- Andrea. Our team opened Bourbon & Baker in 2013 and then assumed operations of Tallgrass Tap House in 2017. We closed Harry’s in July 2020 and opened Guilty Biscuit in August 2020.

I am the president and co-owner (with my wife- Andrea) of One Egg Group located in Manhattan, KS. Our team has experience in both hospitality new brand creation and brand turnaround focused on creating memorable guest experiences and engaged teams.

I am fortunate to have an experienced team of leaders, many who have worked together for over ten years. We are currently focused on evolving our current brands while growing into new projects.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Since 2006 we’ve had peaks and valleys. I believe that no road is ever smooth and we’ve experienced our share of potholes and speed bumps. A couple of key factors in running a business is creating a consistent emotional approach to challenges, working the solution to the problem more than worrying about the problem itself and more trusted minds on a solution the better!

One Egg Group is a Midwest-based hospitality management company currently operating the restaurant’s Tallgrass Tap House, Guilty Biscuit, Bourbon & Baker, and One Egg Catering Kitchen. Our roots have been grown in genuine midwestern hospitality and developed through consistently building engaged teams and loyal guests. Long before our beginnings in 2006, our collective team has believed in creating memorable experiences for those around us each day – both guests and team members. Many of us have spent the majority of our careers together, 16 years and counting, with new team members drawn to our culture and ability to influence the future. Creating these experiences for our team and guests has built One Egg Group into a restaurant management and development company with region-leading guest satisfaction, engaged teams, and mentor-focused leadership development. We are growing our brands while exploring new opportunities as an owner, manager, or concept creators.

What does success mean to you?
Creating moments of happiness for our guests while growing our workplace to be the ‘best gig on the block’ in the neighborhoods we serve.
